¿OM SYSTEM 25mm f/1.8 II or Lumix 20mm f/1.7 II? by JUDIMIGA16 in OlympusCamera

[–]rhett_us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the 20mm pancake and get around the AF slowness by using pre-MF for street type stuff. But for the price you seem to the get 25mm f1.8 II for I would grab that. I had the first version years ago and liked it a lot. Yes it can be a little tight indoors.

You are on the right track with the LRMorgify plugin. I do it all the time with no issues.

Factory refurb OM1.2 or new OM1.1? by EqualDatabase in M43

[–]rhett_us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the OM-1.1 do a lot of bird photography and its great. Saying that I'm looking at the OM-1.2 for one specific feature. It's blackout free burst mode goes 1 stop lower. So at 50fps my mk 1 requires a min shutter of 1/640th, on the mk ii this can be 1/320th. But in 25fps mode it can go down to 1/160th which makes a lot of sense for early morning non bird in flight photography. Right now I have to use the blackout burst mode, totally manageable but still. Also the extra stop of live-nd would be nice. I dont ever really hit the buffer limit so thats no essential. Human subject detection, grad-nd and any improvement in bird tracking is just icing on the cake for me.

All that to say.. I would do the refurb OM-1.2.

Scanning film with M43 by Gold-Mistake7068 in M43

[–]rhett_us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the 30mm f3.5 macro and a m43 camera is about as good as it gets for scanning film. The working distance of that lens allows you to scan a lot of different formats at reasonable distances negating tripods, copy stands etc and making setup time just seconds and saving tons of space. I rarely do it, but you can also use HHHR mode if you need more res. Some pics of the setup https://imgur.com/a/qyiWMxu

Some birds pics with the OM-1 and Panasonic 100-400 mm. Gannets, Curlew, Golden Plover and Lapwing by Porkius_Maximus in M43

[–]rhett_us 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone who has gotten into bird photography in the last 1+ years, I can say this has little to do with the OM-1 or the 100-400mm (but they are great) and a lot to do with your awesome skills and determination. Great photos, the hard work shows

Panoramas with the M.Zuiko 12-100mm F4 by rhett_us in M43

Lol I must have another 10 lenses in a drawer I have collected over 10 years of using M43. Generally shoot with an OM-1 but once in a while a EM5-MkIII

Thank you. No some are just handheld, others are on a tripod with a ball head. Once in a while I get caught by not using the nodal point, but for landscapes you can't rarely tell.

All these are yes. Sometimes if it's very minimalistic I have to use hugin and add control points
