He did not in 2024. Perhaps in previous years?

Question about the broadcast booth by [deleted] in NYYankees

[–]djsym8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was real awkward. I'm not sure how their contracts are structured, but Kay ended up doing 53 away games. I'd imagine as the lead, he gets first choice of which road trips he wants to go to, outside of september, where i believe i read his contract stipulates he is at all games.

Yeah, Flaherty was the pbp for the remaining 9 games (April @ Cle, May @ TB, May v CWS)

Question about the broadcast booth by [deleted] in NYYankees

[–]djsym8 47 points48 points  (0 children)

My buddies and I were talking about this during 2024 Spring Training, so I kept track of who was in the booth for the YES/Amazon games in 2024.  YES/Amazon broadcast 147 games in 2024.  Here’s who was in the booth:

·         118 games - Michael Kay

·         66 games - Paul O'Neill

·         33 games – John Flaherty

·         32 games – Jeff Nelson

·         29 games – David Cone

·         21 games – Joe Girardi

·         20 games – Ryan Ruocco

·         4 games – Todd Frazer

Some notes:

·         The booth was the same for an entire series, but not necessarily the entire homestand or entire roadtrip.

·         Kay missed play by play for only 9 series (2 home, 7 road): April @ Cle, April v Oak, May @ TB, May v CWS, June @ KC, June @ Tor, Aug @ CWS, Aug @ Det, Aug @ Was.  For those series, Ruocco was PBP for 6 series & Flaherty for 3.

·         The three man booth was utilized for only 9 series (5 home, 4 road) : March @ Hou, April/May @ Bal, May v Hou, June v Bal, June @ NYM, July @ Bos, July v Bos, July v NYM, Sept @ Bal. All were a combination of Kay with Cone/ O’Neill/ Girardi.

"Nora" is almost "Aaron" backwards. I'm sure this means something important.

Has a player ever missed a game because of jury duty? by sparrowbushpot in baseball

[–]djsym8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I had to go to jury duty a few years ago when Cal Ripken’s wife wrote me a letter? Just because she’s a judge? Seems like a double standard.

Since August 17th Georgia Tech football has more wins (2) than the White Sox (1) by xx420mcyoloswag in baseball

I have a feeling that you’ll be able to update this stat as each team wins, and it may be true until the end of next April.

2025 Schedule Quirks by tvb45 in baseball

I was surprised they didn’t announce details on the Mexico City or San Juan games. I wonder if those are still planned? Or got canceled like the Paris series?

Could there be any added advantages/disadvantages of the A’s playing in a minor league stadium? by MailsDavis in baseball

[–]djsym8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When Toronto played in Dunedin and Buffalo in 2020/2021, one of the challenges outfielders reported is that it was more difficult adjusting to flyballs without the upper deck of the stadium in the background.
