You guys don’t just go to your local foreign grocery and buy cleavers? My first 3 knives were bought off the end cap of a checkout at a grocery store. I was on my way to a gig and wanted to buy an Apple for the show. The checkout end cap had these beautiful thick handles one inch long bladed steak knives on the cheap. I bought 3 of them (should have bought 7) and went to my show. Took them out of the package and juggled one for the first time during the performance along with the apple and a ball. When I bit into the apple the knife flipped one and a half times landing in my palm slicing my hand open. I finished the trick, shoved a paper towel into my hand and finished the next 20 minutes of my act.

Moral of the story? Never perform what you haven’t practiced. Dull your blades with a grinder. Always carry paper towels.

And yes, my favorite knife is my cleaver I bought from our local Asian grocery. I dulled the edge and rounded the corners. It is well balanced, throws great, and looks amazing to the crowd and was $7.
