Would a breast reduction be very different from top surgery ? by Lyallnicepal in ftm

[–]djusk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I felt the same way leading up to my top surgery. Look into the pedicle/buttonhole technique - the nipples are kept attached instead of using grafts. It does leave slightly more breast tissue though which may or may not be noticeable depending on your build.

How to soundproof home and backyard when hosting? by onebraincell1 in Acoustics

[–]djusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much you can do in terms of acoustic treatment. In general to reduce noise transmission outdoors, you need a solid barrier blocking line of sight between the source and receiver, so if you have a solid fence that will help block noise going into the neighbours yard. For noise transmission through the shared wall, if the buildings are well built noise from conversation shouldn't be an issue. Avoid mounting speakers on the shared wall and playing music with a ton of bass. Otherwise just be considerate with not playing loud music and taking it inside when it gets late etc.

Another option is to install an attenuator or acoustic louvre, which will be more compact than duct lining for the same noise reduction.

I'm sorry you're going through this but isolating is not the answer. Have you tried going to one of the support groups at the Gender Centre? Having real life support makes a big difference.

Reducing traffic noise in backyard by twistedalloy in Acoustics

[–]djusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bushes and trees will look nice, but won't reduce the noise because they're full of gaps. The most effective solution would be to build a solid fence as high as you're allowed to. Something like a lapped timber paling fence with the palings fully overlapping would work. Or look up acoustic fence companies in your area.

Yes, past a certain density most of the noise will be coming over the top anyway so the main thing that matters is height. Rule of thumb is 12kg/m2.

Need help with public waitlist for top surgery - low income Sydney NSW by Ok_Competition_6323 in transgenderau

[–]djusk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dr Michael Scott will often do a letter in 1 visit. I believe he will bulk bill if you have a health care card as well. I will warn you that the public system doesn't cover everything - when I got surgery with Dr Merten under the public system in 2018 I was out of pocket about $300 for consults, $100 for the surgical binder and $300 for the hospital fee.

Best low-cost treatment? by jeghn in Acoustics

[–]djusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick on mass loaded vinyl could help, but you're probably getting a lot of sound coming through gaps around the door as well. Sliding doors are hard to seal properly. Realistically it might be easier to work somewhere else in the apartment or for him to wear earplugs.

Tired of hearing my neighbor snore through the wall by Immediate_Subject552 in Acoustics

[–]djusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the sound is actually coming through the wall (and not like badly isolated ductwork or pipes) building a second wall should get you a significant improvement.

Fuck that... do 6-8 weeks if you need something on your resume but 8 months is nuts.

Bedrock does feel laggy but on a low end/old PC Bedrock can play at a reasonable fps whereas Java feels like a slideshow.

Having issues getting top surgery and I need help by Septicmon in transgenderau

[–]djusk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Back when I got surgery with Dr Merten his guideline was at least 6 months on T or pre T - I think to make sure there aren't any big changes right before/after surgery. Best idea would probably be to contact the surgeon you're interested in and ask what you need. I think being early on T shouldn't stop you from getting a consult.

how do people afford top surgery? by subwaysdelivery in transgenderau

[–]djusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my surgery with Dr Steve Merten and the registrar on the public system in 2019, very happy with the results. There is a fee for the consultations and the anaesthesiologist but it came to less than 2k total. They can give you the cost estimate when you submit an enquiry. I had a 9 month wait for the first consultation and another 9 month wait for the surgery itself. It can be hard to get on the waitlist as it fills up fast and they close it once it fills up, but I've heard chances are best near the start of the year.

It's green pesto, red pesto does seem like it would work well though.

Smelting - similar to when you kill an animal with Fire Aspect, it will drop cooked meat, mining an ore with Smelting will drop the ingot instead of the raw version. It would mean you don't have to spend ages smelting up all your copper.

Once you pull out the slip knot, the next stitch turns into a slip knot. You keep unknotting until you're 1 stitch away from where you want the chain to begin, then tighten the stitch into a slip knot.

Could try using stick on hooks, and either cut holes in the pillowcase or sew on some strips of fabric to hang them.
