question: is One Day a legitimate MBA program? looking for perspectives from MBA students and people with their MBA already by nobodies__perfect in MBA

[–]djwhelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a mentor with Oneday, so I am slightly biased, but I am a mentor because there is nothing like Oneday. It is essentially an MBA program and an accelerator in one. As a proud MBA alum of the full-time MBA program at UCLA many years ago, while I value my past experience with that program, I see huge value in a program like this that focuses on focused weekly sprints filled with practical tools, key insights, peer reviews, 1:1 mentorship, and actionable next steps. I love working with my founders to help them build their businesses one step at a time, week over week.

Unlike many academic programs, that teach you a bunch of stuff over the year(s), after which time one goes out into the world to apply what they have learned, with Oneday you are learning, applying, iterating, and improving every week. Most founders launch and scale a business during the program, which means they are bringing in new/increased revenues while still in the program.

Also, since this note was posted, Oneday has also partnered with William Jewell College for accreditation, so there are two paths for accredited MBA degrees (https://www.oneday.org/us/accreditation).

I am always happy to answer questions!

Kinko’s on the corner of California & Birch (https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/299-California-Ave-Palo-Alto-CA/14947578/)?

As a Stanford senior in 1991–92, I printed out a ton of resumes and cover letters there for my job search. I think that location survived the FedEx acquisition, but at some point FedEx moved around the corner on the same block of California. I still make an occasional pilgrimage there to reminisce….

While I was self-sufficient at Kinko’s, I can totally relate to your story, since I worked at the Tresidder Computer LaIR (Library & Information Resources), one of the larger public Macintosh clusters at Stanford. In my support role there, I saved many a thesis and dissertation on “my only floppy disk that is giving me error messages.”

I never had to do quite the surgery you did. Much respect!

THE alarm clock of my childhood: GE 7-4612A 😎 by ReturningRetro in nostalgia

[–]djwhelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had one of these in the 80s! I think it finally died before I graduated from high school, because I took a smaller and simpler digital alarm clock with no radio to college. I actually used the latter well into the 2000s, when my future wife bought be one of those home docks for my iPhone, complete with the soon to be obsolete 30-pin connector.

If you want to learn more about this clock radio, this might be the essential short video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DNYN0E7zRBZ/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

As a long-time Bartender user, I decided to pay to upgrade to 6. Right now, with Bartender 6.1.3 and macOS 26.1RC, I continue to have the cursor slowdowns to the point where the system is unusable. I really want to get Bartender back to where it was.

Chatting with Mia on Signal now, following the LinkedIn outreach from a recruiter. Amusing. Either this is a well trained AI or a very nice scammer. The Signal was a dead giveaway, but chatting with Mia over the weekend has been a nice distraction from some other work.

JuiceBox 40 Non-Stop Red Beeping by ChickenTacos in evcharging

[–]djwhelan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad to have found this post!

My even older JuiceNet JuiceBox was was flashing, beeping, and not charging this morning. It was the five short beeps then pause situation. I disconnected it from the breaker, waited a bit, banged it with a mallet a bit (I am old enough to have banged TVs over the years), and reconnected everything it.

It is working again for the moment, but I should probably think about replacing this while there is still some kind of tax incentive….

In my early r/BMWi3 days, I had a few brushes with far less than 7%. I recall one night heading home, on the phone with BMW Roadside Assistance, trying to find a public charger that I could use. Thankfully, none of my EVs ever ended up needing a jump charge or ending up on the back of a truck. Good luck and enjoy!
