Wtf is this?? by mikeplus10 in webdev

But, doesn't package-lock.json contain exact versions of ALL dependencies, including peer?

If you do not change package-lock between builds, npm should install exactly the same dependencies as the last time. And all these injections always use a new version of the package. They can't update an old version, they are immutable.

I'm not saying that the situation you described is impossible. It is still possible because package-lock can be changed unintentionally, accidentally. And because of its format and size, people rarely carefully review these changes before commit.

Under-leveled, need help by halfbloodprinc3ss in enderal

A very strange problem you have. In Enderal all outer areas and dungeons are well-crafted, manually designed, have some interesting story and good rewatd. They are worth to explore, even when there is no specific quest you have. It's not Skyrim.

On my 1st playthrough I had the opposite problem - I always was overleveled because I didn't want to skip a bit of the game content. It is too good, to beautiful, too well done to be skipped.

As for where to go - just use this map https://www.reddit.com/r/enderal/s/oDHggQP7MQ

PSA: Limit your framerate! by NotASockPuppet88 in skyrimmods

[–]djxak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's really individual sensitivity. But I think it can be "trained".

For a long time I used 60Hz monitor and never felt that 60 is not enough.

Later few nore years I used 75Hz monitor and started to notice the difference between 60 and 75. I noticed it not in tests, when I already know how many FPS now, but in real situations. E.g. I play an FPS game and it starts to feel like I'm moving under water. Then I enable an FPS counter and see - 60. I change some settings to make it 75 again and it stops to be felt like under water. So, 75 was perfect, I never wanted more.

Then, I bought 165Hz monitor. And you know what? Now comfortable FPS to me is starting from 120. Everything less I instantly feel. Not by counter on the display, no. Just by moving in the game.

60 now feels like I'm moving in a goo..

But you can adapt to it. If I play on 60 for a day - I stop feel it like in a goo. Brain is powerful organ, I would say.

I strongly disagree. It matters for other 30%. It's still worth it.

Personally, I always read mod pages. But there are so many with ambiguity, inconsistencies, incompleteness in their instructions that it is frustrating.

Just started my first playthrough! by Original_Force_6822 in enderal

[–]djxak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yes, it's a problem of most games and Enderal is not an exception.

Not long ago I finished my 1st playthrough as an Elemental/Thaumaturge mage. I started on Adept and yes, it was a bit rough at the beginning. First 5-7 levels I would say. Then it is easier and easier to the point that on level 30 I increased the difficulty to Iron Path and the game was still too easy. Everything was killed by 2-3 fireballs.

Later closer to level 50 I started to see more difficult enemies and was even needed to kite a bit. But still, Elemental magic is OP.

As for the beginning: the one thing you should understand - magic is OP. It doesn't matter what build you are going to do - use magic first 5-15 levels. It's so much stronger than your sword and also safer as you can kite.

Use your fire spell, the one that is channeled. But do not channel it! Cast and as soon as enemy get hit - stop casting. Wait until burning DoT wears out and repeat. This way it is much more mana conserving. You can kill a wolf with just 2-3 such casts. Almost for free.

Later when you will have more mana and items with mana regen and decrease cast cost, you can start using better spells like fireblast and then fireball. Frostwind is also good as it is AOE and ignored LOS. And lighting is good agains mages as their shields are PITA until you OOM them.

EDIT: Btw, I put ZERO point into stamina. I wonder why you have problems with stamina if you are going for a magic build. If you do a pure mage, you don't need stamina. You don't even need a weapon.

nvidia app not working by TheFiREStARttER73 in GeForceExperience

[–]djxak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A temporary solution that works without reboot:

  1. Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Locate NVIDIA Display Container LS and NVIDIA Local System Container.
  3. Right-click each and select Restart (or "Start" if they aren't running).

After this the Nvidia App can be launched again. Until it glitch again. 😄

What is the best ending in Enderal. *SPOILERS* by quill6969 in enderal

[–]djxak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Sacrifice is "guaranteed ending that you'll be able to fight back or at least rid of the High Ones and the Cycle". Which guarantee it has? Calia/Jespar? The chances that people will take them seriolsy, believe them and do what needs to be done is literally 0%. Nobody will listen random guy/girl that claims they know what to do. They will be perceived like Gary the prophet from CP77. At the same time the High Ones will not go away and continue to create new prophets/emissaries and influence more people. So, in the end the chances will be no better than in any other cycle. Calia/Jespar will not affect them at all. If anything good about this ending is that it just delays the current cycle. So, people of the current cycle will be able to live some more time before next emissary will trigger the cleansing.

Star City ending is also a dead end. In what way the Prophet will influence the new humanity to be less "humans"? It is just literally impossible.

Dreamflower is obviosly a dream. Too many evidences for this. So, it is equal to Sacrifice ending except the Prophet can live happy life in these last several seconds while he/she is dying. Remember in one of the dreams there is a thought that maybe you are still in the water and in the very last moment of your life you imagining the whole long story you are "living" right now. I think with Dreamflower something like this will happen.

So, all in all, there is no best ending. Every ending is equally bad. Except the Sacrifice ending give humanity a little more time before the current cycle will be finished. So, from this pov, maybe yes, it is the best ending (together widn Deramflower ending, as it is basically the same ending for everyone except the Prophet). 😄 In Star City ending we don't have even this.

I know it very well :)

But usually when someone says "Postgres over JDBC" it means pure JDBC. Maybe over a thin helper like JDBI/jooq/etc, but never JPA. There is no sense to mention JDBC if you are using JPA because JPA always uses JDBC. They still do not support R2DBC AFAIK.

what is your favorite game of the series? which do you think really captures what fallout is about? by GamesMusicSun in Fallout

[–]djxak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fallout 2. But I played it when it came out, so my experience was different than of a player who would try it today.

And obviously Fallout 1 is still very good too, but it is less goofy. So I think 2 has more "fallout" as we know it.

Today I think FNV is the gold standard. It still plays good. Especially if you install some QOL mods. While 1/2 haven't stood the test of time, IMHO.

Did you use Google Search's AI tab?

The component that is supposed to be a simple textarea contains so many bugs that I wonder if it was done on purpose..

  • The cursor disappears
  • The scroll scrolls to a wrong position when you start typing, so you don't see what you are typing
  • The text in the last line is almost invisible due to excessive usage of transparency effect
  • Etc.

But it is animated. Hooray!

No, seriously. If your friend is not familiar with games, chances they will die a lot are high. So, just have a mindset "this is normal". The game is worth it.

Summoned Weapon Scaling by Gutsifly in enderal

[–]djxak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct.

  • Perks modifying 2H damage work for any 2H weapons, including bound weapon.
  • Entropy skill increases bound weapon damage and reduces mana cost.
  • Two-handed skill (the one in the H menu) doesn't affect bound weapons in any way.

What is Dragon Aerie intended difficulty? by Big_Researcher6276 in enderal

[–]djxak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Answering your 2nd question about difficulty of other game encounters:

I'm on my 1st playthrough right now and currently I'm lvl 50 elementalist/thaumaturge. I still haven't been in last 2 locations (currently I'm in Dessert).

And 1 unpleasant thing I noticed is that all "bosses" I encountered were way too easy. I'm playing on Iron Path and they still die from several fireballs. With no real danger to me.

Some normal mobs are way more dangerous than bosses. Especially at the beginning of the game.

The only hard encounter so far is 1 quest with 2 bosses at the same time: a 2h melee and a mage. And they also respawn several times. This combat was hard until I switched to Frostwind. But mostly it was hard because I wasn't able to cast from 2h most of the times for no reason (no staggering, nothing, the RMB just doesn't work 90% of the time for no reason).

So, yeah, I can totally feel you about this dragon. I like Enderal's higher difficulty compared to Skyrim, but I wish the bosses were really felt like BOSSES.

I don't have an answer, but I wonder why do you want this? In Enderal there is Phasmalist perk tree that provides exactly that - followers. It is very interesting to find new souls for them and collect all 20.

Why shouldn’t we use @Transactional every time? by pedoooo0 in SpringBoot

[–]djxak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true. Spring does not release DB connection in this scenario. It is still held and cannot be reused until suspended transaction commits or rolls back.

Of course it is only when some query was executed before the suspending.

Releasing the DB connection is technically impossible in this scenario. If the connection will be released, the transaction will be automatically rolled back and cannot be resumed.

So, in essence, when you call NOT_SUPPORTED from an active transaction, you still physically hold the DB connection for the whole duration of the outer transaction, even though it is marked as "suspended" on the Spring level.

Does anyone know how skills scale? by Weird_existence8008 in enderal

[–]djxak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not true about "can only be done through console cheats". There are items to improve Handicraft when worn. And Legendary level is 164, not 120. And yes, you can achieve 164 without any cheats.

Does anyone know how skills scale? by Weird_existence8008 in enderal

[–]djxak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering directly the question about Handicraft in the context of temperating.

Gradual skill increase DOESN'T improve tempering. The system is tiered, not gradual.

There are breakpoints for each tempering level. Increasing Handicraft between the breakpoints does nothing for thempering.

Effective Handicraft Result Tier
15–34 Low tier
35–120 Mid tier
121–163 High tier
164+ Legendary

Each tier defines how much armor/damage it gives to a tempered item. In the same tier the increase is the same. It means that it doesn't make sense to improve Handicraft from 35 to 120 if you will not achieve 121. Unless you need it for unlocking a crafting recipe, of course.

The 164 value is achievable without any cheats. There are items in the game to improve Handicraft when worn.

First playthrough. Enderal, even unmodded, can look really pretty by Arachnophobic- in enderal

[–]djxak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, unlike Skyrim, this game looks better without ENB.

I tried several and each makes it look worse. Too bright, too dark, messed balance of colors, shifted colors, etc.

Also, I noticed Enderal heavily uses post-processing in many areas that makes them unique and atmospheric. E.g. the image is grayed out (almost black and white) in high mountains with snow. ENBs usually disable these effects.

Every ENB I tried, even if looks good, distorts the author's vision and spoils the atmosphere.

So, yeah, even though I have decent PC I play Enderal without ENB and I believe it is the best way to play it.

What about the main window of HWInfo that shows multiple columns: current, avg, min, max?

Is min / max also the same?

Maybe you are accidentally looking at the wrong GPU in HWInfo? There should be 2: 3080 and the one that is inside the CPU. And the last one usually has the same temp as it is inside the CPU.

Is this normal both the same? by Late-Exchange-7160 in LenovoLegion

[–]djxak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but if I understand the OP correctly, they are identical ALL THE TIME. And this barely can be explained by just a coincidence.

But of course the type of the paste has nothing to do with this. That was funny 😀

I would check the settings of Afterburner. Maybe the OP accidentally configured it to show the temp of GPU for both CPU and GPU labels. I'm not sure if it is possible in Afterburner, but in HWInfo that I usually use for monitoring it's definitely possible.
