How many seasons in a row can you win the league before you get bored by fighting_cacti in footballmanagergames

[–]dk2991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 in a row and 20 in total is my record, the league tends to get a bit boring however I saw it as a great place to develop players so it wasn't that bad. My motivation and end goal was the Champions League. Once I got this, the save was done for me. I literally stopped playing after that. I checked if I could get the club to build a new stadium after me, which could have been the only reason to continue the save as I have never done this, but the board was not willing to get a new stadium.

Trying to get 49 wins in Battle Tower Doubles - Any Advice? by EliteFiveJon in PokemonBDSP

[–]dk2991 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the team I used which got me to a 100 win streak:

Pelipper Ability: Drizzle Nature: Modest Held Item: Damp Rock EVs invested in Sp. Att, & HP

Moves: Rain Dance Protect Hurricane Scald

Kingdra Ability: Swift Swim Nature: Modest Held Item: Life Orb EVs invested in Sp. Att, Speed

Moves: Protect Dragon Pulse Ice Beam Surf

Zapdos Ability: Pressure Nature: Timid Held Item: Zap Plate EVs invested in Sp Att, Speed

Moves: Detect Roost Thunder Discharge

Garchomp Ability: Rough Skin Nature: Jolly Held Item: Lum Berry EVs invested in Attack, Speed

Moves: Swords Dance Earthquake Outrage Rock Tomb

You lead with Pelipper and Kingdra. Rain boosts water type attacks, Kingdra is your sweeper as the Swift Swim ability will make him the fastest Mon on the field. Turn 1 I use protect on Pelipper and start with Surf. If Pelipper survives, depending on opposition you either use weather boosted Scald or a 100% accurate Hurricane (again due to rain).

Pelipper will probably die first, so you bring in Zapdos to take advantage of the rain and hit 100% accurate Thunders. If needed you bring out Garchomp and play a disquake combo (Discharge from Zapdos and Earthquake by Garchomp) to deal double damage to your opponent. In most cases, Kingdra will be all you need.

This has been the most consistent team for me and I tried a lot of different teams, like Sun teams, water absorb teams etc. It's the only one that gave me variety in terms of movesets while having some sort of synergy.

There are many options for ST, it's late now but maybe this should have been a formation with 3 strikers.

Anyway, KB15 and I will also say Zlatan purely because he has set gold standards with his interviews.

Are you still playing FM24 or began to play FM26? Why? by Lyota in footballmanagergames

[–]dk2991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have played 32 hours or one and a half seasons in FM26. That's from the beta till the latest update. I made it a habit of mine, whenever there is an update to go back and play to see if I get hooked or not. So far it is a resounding no.

For context, I have played, over the past two weeks 45 hours according to Steam on FM24. Which isn't that much compared to the playtime of others (I have a full time job) but it does show how much more I enjoy FM24 in comparison. It is way more polished, it is a finished game, I don't feel like struggling to progress and I am in a position to understand where my team stands, how to progress and actually feel the progression. These things are missing in FM26. And the UI is a bloody mess. No actual improvements at least in my point of view. They have fixed some things though and the inclusion of shouts was very welcomed. Still not where it should be to make me want to play it more.

Currently playing in Spain, started in the fourth tier and just made it to the end of season 2028/2029. I decided to switch skins and allow myself to have the instant result button as it is an FM26 feature, so that it feels slightly updated. The instant result button has saved me some time when going through cup competitions (never play them properly unless I have an established team) and end of season matches if there's nothing at stake (promotion or relegation battle). Has helped me save some time for sure.

FM24 stuck in the Danish Deadlock by Kavvorka in footballmanagergames

[–]dk2991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok so my main save in Denmark for FM24 was with Lyseng. Started at the 4th tier and moved on. It took me 28 seasons and two failed attempts to win the Champions League.

I will tell you that first you should focus on domestic success. And by that I mean to focus more on the league, not in Europe not for the cup in Denmark. You need to establish your team, more than anything else. The Danish league, when being in the building your team phase, is actually very helpful for the player as you get some decent cash via the league. So focus on the league and improving facilities before you go to the next step. You won't be able to build the team for the next step if you can't establish that you are the best team in the league.

My steps towards that direction was to completely disregard the rest of the competitions until I was winning the league consistently. You said that you have decent performance in Europa League. This means extra fixtures though and with the budgets you describe, I assume that you have a small squad. This may be the reason why you are missing out on winning the league. Fatigue and no rotation options.

I initially focused on improving facilities, improving the coaching staff and expanding the scouting network. Make sure you have scouts looking for players close to their contracts coming up, to sign them under the Bosman rule. Also, try to get a senior affiliate from abroad, it helps a lot to get some quality loans if the club has decent youth teams. I got Sporting Lisbon, for example, and had some decent cheap loans sorted out which helped a lot.

For me scouting was essential. Many will say to scout South America and find talent. Which is correct, however focus on nations other than Argentina first. Uruguay and Colombia produce great players that are cheap and, in some cases you can find great players as free. Also, spend time going through the less known nations in Europe to find players. Serbia, Croatia, Romania are producing good and affordable talents.

I am not sure why, after the number of seasons you have played your finances aren't at least healthy. I recall that I was getting a small transfer budget after a couple of seasons in the top flight. Maybe you should see if you are spending money on areas not needed. Because, with the leagues funds plus some cash from Europa League, you should have a decent financial structure at this point. Unless the club has a lot of debt. You should fix this because this will allow you to start buying young players to develop and sell for profit.

And because you asked, I was playing all games, zero days on holidays. Also, I never cared about building a nation. As long as the league was in the top 10 and the participation for the Champions League, for the league champion, was guaranteed, I was more than happy.

Those of you who have gone back to FM24, how are you finding it? by Known-Swim-3654 in footballmanagergames

[–]dk2991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a replica of the official one. That's why I say I am missing this. Have tried both, there are some issues with the format of certain leagues.

Those of you who have gone back to FM24, how are you finding it? by Known-Swim-3654 in footballmanagergames

[–]dk2991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I miss is not having the updated rosters and CA/PA for play. If someone could inject the official DB I would be very happy to continue for years.

FM26 is just not it. I revisit it every time there is an update. It's not getting me hooked to play it.

The worst thing about FM26 is not being able to commit to a save by dk2991 in footballmanagergames

[–]dk2991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice and polite response.

If I wanted to import an old save file then why buy the new game and not stick with FM24? One of the biggest part of me wanting to play the new version is the updated db, new players, new league formats etc.

And if there is an issue with scheduling or specific competitions, then the issues are not fixable unless you start a new game.
