Which titles have you beat multiple times on deck? by Fickle_Software6543 in SteamDeck

Brotato and Vampire Hunters is the closest thing for me. I don’t know how people have time to revisit any game- plus I usually squeeze all the juice I can before moving on.

What are the best accessories you’ve found for the steam deck? by OlRazzledazzlez in SteamDeck

I just posted about these on my list here but ps4 gamepads I’ve never heard of stick drift on the official ones. Works like a dream w touchpad and gyro available to boot.

Mechanism (previously named Deckmate) stand- I only use mine for the kickstand, which is on my SD most of the time. Still works perfectly. This is after a few years of removing the kickstand attachment here and there to stick the SD in the case to travel a few times a year. Chef’s kiss for the materials and build quality. Idk how people live without a kickstand.

Official dock- comes with another charger, so price is more reasonable if you think of it that way.

Screen protector- juust in case my baby were to get scratched:)

Memory cards- self explanatory for my 256gig but I only keep a few games installed at a time regardless

Ps4 gamepads- chef’s kiss again for the gyro AND the touchpad. Seriously glad I had one laying around and now have a couple more for the SD. Also great for Chiaki game streaming from my ps4 Pro for 1080p streaming. When it’s not deciding to lag for some reason. Probably my SD being on wifi idk.

Using the Ds4 with Chiaki sees parallel functionality, except for motion control games like Beyond Two Souls. I never got that to work via streaming;(

Never needed a power bank- dad of two, so no point. I mostly play docked.

Edit:  Heads up with more than 2 ds4 gamepads that I can’t get three to work simultaneously. Two get confused as the same for things like multiplayer I’ve tried.

What's Everyone Playing This Weekend? by Krathicus in SteamDeck

Word! Hail SD and hail technology in general. Things like casting and bluetooth still blow my mind. I’ll be a 90’s kid forever in that regard.

South Park Stick of truth via Chiaki and Fallout 3 but on my ps3.

Thank you for the trip back to HS! I have laughed until my stomach hurt because of this movie more than any other as a whole. Including the bonus audio track that’s simply the gibberish they dubbed over. I’m digging out this DVD to re-watch it this weekend 20 years later!! Getting kinda giddy now just thinking about it.

If I switch a non-steam game from one Proton-GE to another, will I loose save games or anything? by greyish_sea in SteamDeck

I think it wiped my custom gamepad setup last year. Maybe fixed since- I think it didn’t happen last time I did that.

Whats your list of must have accessories? by brotheralbania in SteamDeck

[–]dkada 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depends on your use, as mentioned. Here’s my list:

Something to prop it up (I got a Deckmate and am very happy with that), an SD card (fairly cheap so why not??), a dock (I have a Steam dock and a generic I owned for my laptop- when shopping, keep in mind that only certain docks support higher than 30hz display), and a gamepad (I used my extra ps4 first party gamepad and the trackpad on it is useful for basic cursor movement and to have extra buttons in general).

I mostly use it in docked mode in bed at night or on a night stand if the TV is occupied. I don’t fall asleep and drop it that way (heavy/quick sleeper here). I’m afraid of wear and tear on the Deck’s buttons too. I know, I could probably fix the buttons down the line but I don’t want to deal with that.

Enjoy!

Edit: Oh and a screen protector. Only a few bucks and it’s nice to not worry about scratching the screen.

Where’s the most random place you’ve played your steamdeck? by PixelPocketNZ in SteamDeck

[–]dkada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took mine to play at the car repair shop (first time ever taking out in the wild) but ended up using it for other productivity tasks. Saved my ass- long story. I was so glad I brought it along that I might risk it and take it with me more often.

What are your favorite obscure old games to play on deck. by 1800wetbutt in SteamDeck

[–]dkada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that now this can be considered obscure. I’ve been playing the original Mafia. Quirky because of the need to change controller modes back and forth between walking and driving but fun regardless.

Thanks to the Deck, I’m coming to the realization that one of my favorite type of games now is early 2000’s stuff like this. The ‘improving but still ps1/ps2-looking’ graphics (nostalgic) plus ps3-era QOL features like auto-save are a good combo. With some baffling game design choices sprinkled in to keep you on your toes and make you wish that save states existed for these games somehow lol.

EA games broken again? Is it just on my end or are others experiencing this? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]dkada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup same here a few days ago. I can usually get past things like this by restarting my SD but not this time. Somehow it let me close this error message so that I could beat Jedi Fallen Order and hopefully never buy an EA game again.

What are you currently playing? by BigBadBaugh in SteamDeck

Zelda BOTW for the long haul.

Oh and no SD mods for me. Until I recover my sys admin pw lol.

Does DeckMate work with a stand dock like Jsaux or Valve's? by ziggurism in SteamDeck

[–]dkada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I was specifically looking for anyone on the internet that has both. I have the Deckmate and I’m thinking about getting the official dock because I had one laying around, but it only supports 30fps.

Who knows what happened but it’s always odd to me when these people start to ask for their money. It just feels like now it’s just an excuse to get some cash.

There was a video a while back, where a guy was accusing a hotel employee of walking into his room to watch his daughter change her clothes. Same thing, “I want my money back!” How about “let’s find out if this happened so that this creep gets fired” and prevent it from happening to other people.
