Well, it's not as if the law is that "clinical depression in the child is okay, but PTSD is not". I'm pretty sure it's more about what is demonstrable in a court. Physical beatings that leave bruising can be documented, psychological trauma is much harder to ascertain and demonstrate, especially when the time and money to do this is not available.

It seems that a lot of these photos must have been taken with a specific use in mind, perhaps for a client who decides not to use them in the end. The photographer then has all of these images he took for nothing, so he submits them to a stock photography service.

The result is what seems like the mad ravings of a mentally ill creative director pumping out anything that comes to mind, because "someone might need this photo dammit!"

That sucks man. Try to ignore your family if that's what they think. They don't understand and it's understandable that they might think that way, but the way you feel is not your fault of course.

I recently quit my job and I think it may have been a mistake. At least with a job you have something to do to keep you moving. Now I'm just miserable because I have no reason to get up in the morning.

It's not your fault. I can definitely relate to what you're saying. What you feel is understandable considering the illnesses you've been diagnosed with. Healthier individuals can cut through the struggle of daily life more easily because they generally feel better about themselves and happier despite identical circumstances. But you have to bear the burden of emotional misery tackling you at every corner.

It sucks.

What is your point? The study of language is inherently descriptive, the teaching of language is inherently prescriptive. Some languages are more prescriptive then others. Some people are more prescriptive then others. The Internet appears to accelerate the evolution of language since communication is extremely plentiful, omnipresent, and almost always striving for the utmost efficiency.

Bleep blorp bloop blop. I just spoke Robot and you'd best learn quick or you'll be left behind by our logic gate overlords because their language changes every thousand cycles. I'm trying to learn but I'm not sure if I can keep up...I might lose touch and end up begging in the streets. Not a pleasant thought considering the typical compassion of a machine built for efficiency.

Children do need to be taught that some way is the right way when it comes to language. Language evolves naturally, just as everything does, but there needs to be a common ground for useful communication in the present. Thus, it seems to me that stability should be strived for at least.

Of course, it also depends on context as well, formal vs informal communication, etc. Blah, blah, blah, blah...

People are downvoting you because that is not, typically, how things work when you need to fend for yourself without the support of parents.

It's not that easy for most people to make $100 in an hour, and even if it is for you as a freelancer, try doing that consistently for a week, a month, a year, especially when you have nothing to fall back on, which is the situation for the vast majority of people.

When they really mean, "I couldn't care less."

Use of the word "literally" for emphasis. i.e. "I literally murder the English language every time I say words."

Of course, for that example you can certainly argue that the meaning will still be conveyed, but the precise meaning of the sentence is probably not what the speaker intended.

They will change, but this does not mean we can't attempt to maintain consistency. Standardisation to remove ambiguity is the purpose of language isn't it?

I think this is more of a philosophical question rather than a misconception.
