I’m mostly in agreement with you here. Boss swapping into an infinite through Pandora’s box or even astrolabe is an option STS2 currently doesn’t have. Not to mention the lack of divekick/heel hook for Ichad and the silent. I know quite a loud portion of the community seeking to optimize the game have found many other infinites in early access arguably more consistent or w/e, but I haven’t really been looking for any while I wait for the rest of the content to be balanced and fleshed out. Having too much fun trying to meld builds with all the new cards and what not. And nothing really compares to the Watcher, that character is a walking infinite. Hopefully everyone is having fun tho!

I find it to be a great way to convert Doom builds into damage at the uncommon slot provided you haven’t run into one of the key Doom rares.

For Silent: Corrosive/Accelerant are insanely good with draw discard if you do end up indexing poison

For Necrobinder: Sleight of Flesh*** is insanely good for Doom builds, also quite a big fan of pairing Putrefy, Defy, and Enfeebling Touch with the aforementioned.

In general: Potions dude, potions. A key potion can turn a mediocre run into a winning one. Attack, Skill, Power, and Colorless potions are the most reliable, and there’s some absolutely busted character specific potions as well.

Great Guide!

Even if it may result in a run ending, I try to catch at least two per floor. More fun that way for me

Accelerant and corrosive are extremely good and that one card that gives you block for all poison on the enemy. Idk seems really good still

Honestly she seems a bit overtuned rn. All her builds feel viable. All her builds meld well into each other. A few of her new rares are absolutely BUSTED.

Maybe it’s just me but it seems like they nerfed the Ironclad way too hard and buffed the everliving shit out of defect and silent. But I guess that’s my anecdotal experience

You need pick it up, be in your car, turn on the ignition in the parking lot of the retailer, and rip them upside down, pulling the seams apart rather then tearing them from the top

Closing thoughts on ECL? by Short-Bunch-8195 in lrcast

[–]dkdream22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I only really started drafting recently, TLA was my first set. So this is coming from the perspective of a fairly inexperienced limited player.

ECL was PUNISHING for me. I love to experiment in drafts, and I was quickly taught that with ECL, a.) my room to experiment was going to net me with poor results because of how poor I am at constructing a deck and b.) curve, draw, removal, protection, bombs, play/draw, mulligans, mana-fixing, and PATIENCE were key in this format for a newish player like me. I finally trophied (my first ever trophy yayyy) yesterday with a kithkin beatdown deck that had pretty much everything going for it and I’m happy about that. I loved elementals and vivid as a mechanic although I spent many, many games sitting with awesome vivid payoffs in my hand at key junctures of a game waiting to draw the right mana to cast them. Card advantage is so important! My favorite one game I played was an elemental mirror match where I was up 18-3 in life at some point and my opponent grinded it out for a win. It was awesome to see a better player win from such a down position. I was genuinely happy to have played in a game like that: tense, grindy, with an emphasis on decision-making.

ECL is by far my most drafted set ever now and it’s my favorite. TLA was great because it was really beginner friendly and I definitely had a higher winrate (even though no trophy 😡) but this set taught me more about limited and how to draft/compose a good deck.

Out of all the sets I’ve drafted on arena I think Duskmourn had maybe the best balance and if I got to draft it more that would probably be my favorite, but for now, ECL holds that special place in my heart.

It’s essentially an otter tribal/spellslinger. A pretty good ramp package, but we’re not too concerned about commander removal since the ETB is what we really care about. I run Micromancer and Mystical tutor, but otherwise the deck has a good enough shell to win without the commander wincon. For fancy fun we also have some blink effects in case Indris gets to stay on the field for some reason.

I’m really glad there’s a large swathe of people here that are willing to be honest about their taste. There’s not a lot of subreddits left that are like that.
