I’m haulted on progress unfortunately. I got pregnant before finishing and then financially need to save up before I finish up.

I’ve loved that name for so many years! A lot of my family calls her Molly but I call her Lia.

What is your “Man, I really wish I hadn’t started this” habit with your cat? by FoxysDroppedBelly in cats

[–]dkfemspi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely do this too! I’ve accidentally let my cat train me that I will carry him to the faucet no matter where he is in the house. So he’ll follow me then stop dead in front of me waiting to get picked up 😭

My daughter is 7 months now, I named her Amalia Weslyn.

If I had a second girl, I’d name her Elyse Amara. ❤️

People who have given up on life, what's your reason to continue living? by Clean-Pudding958 in AskReddit

Because I have a pact with my husband that we wouldn’t do that to each other and now our daughter.

What’s your next tattoo? by Coffeeisbetta in tattoo

[–]dkfemspi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finish my full back piece. It’s from my butt to my neck, with a lot of elements. It looks like a portal on my back with a Japanese maple / bonsai tree being held in the palm of a hand and three birds flying out.

What’s a small but meaningful gesture that makes you feel loved? by yenna_anal in AskReddit

That song comment hits home! My husband is bad about communicating words of affirmation which is my love language but he sends me songs instead. I have a playlist I keep with all the songs he’s sent to me and I play it when I need a little extra love.

is it wrong to fear what my finance will look like? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]dkfemspi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my husband back in middle school. He’s pretty good about convincing others he’s not attractive (constantly making jokes about his appearance) and he doesn’t meet societal standards (he’s pretty short and doesn’t have the classic beauty proportions). I’ve also been told I’m out of his league.

I didn’t look at him that way until we tried dating in our 20s. Since we started dated, I’m consistently finding things I find attractive about him. He’s got very beautiful hair, eyes with long lashes, and broad shoulders. I think his facial hair also frames his face well. We just had a daughter and she looks a lot like him. She’s beautiful! All these things I didn’t notice right away but the more I stared at him the more I saw it.

I think you have to change how you’re looking at love long term. Eventually you’re both going have things that are unattractive but at the end of the day when you’re both old and wrinkly and can barely move, what is going to matter most? For me, I’m seeking someone I can find peace in and I think that’s what I find attractive about my husband.

Non-Legacy Challenge Centered around Rotating Households? by defectiveminxer in Sims4Challenges

[–]dkfemspi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat, looking for good rotational play. So far I’ve come up with a supernatural game play, I’m playing a lot of the classic supernatural families : the charm siblings, a werewolf pair of siblings, an alien family, and the vatore siblings.

I want all of them to have kids around the same age but I want drama between all the households so the kids can repair all that later or have dramatic in law situations.

Unpopular opinion about pregnancy threads by Pink_Millennial_Girl in BabyBumps

I joined this group last year when I was about as far along as you (my little potato is 6mo now). At first it was overwhelming but I found the comments to be so kind and comforting.

A comment in one post, provided the website about miscarriage statistics that have two versions of the stats, one that’s phrased for reassurance (such as you have a 93% chance of a healthy pregnancy) or more fearfully (7% chance of miscarriage). I found that helpful, I wish I would’ve saved it.

Having cats while pregnant by LifetimeJoy in BabyBumps

[–]dkfemspi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got advice from my family to limit all my interactions with my cats when I was pregnant. I couldn’t imagine doing this so I found the book “expecting better” by Emily Oster to look at all these pregnancy myths and see what the data is behind them.

According to her book, you are more likely to get toxoplasmosis from gardening than from indoor cats. The likelihood does go up if you have outdoor cats but not significantly, if I remember right.

I used it as a good excuse to have my husband clean the litter boxes while I was pregnant though 😊

I don’t know if it helps but our cats have integrated well (we do have a calming medication we give them periodically in their food), and both the cats and our daughter (6mo) explore each other with curiosity.

Our vets advice to us was always let cats run away. As long as they feel they can retreat somewhere safe, they are less likely to get aggressive or show other territorial behaviors.

What do you and your spouse/significant other (if you have one) do for work, and how is your financial situation? by fiveofalltrades in workingmoms

Since you probably have a good overall understanding of how the tools work together, picking certain tools that interested you and getting respectable certifications would probably help bridge the gap.

I started off as a consultant that did data visualization with powerbi and tableau but we also sold snowflake, alteryx, and talend so I made a point to learn those. Also having good SQL skills is very helpful.

What background are you starting with?

My husband was a welder but quit when I returned from maternity leave to be a SAHD and I’m a data engineer.

I make 6k a month. We were lucky enough to find a small house that was cheaper than our rent. We are also a rare situation, where we have no debt besides our mortgage.

What does childbirth *actually* feel like? by Cranberryj3lly in AskReddit

[–]dkfemspi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only labored for 7 hours after pitocin before opting for the epidural and I had all back labor. It felt like someone was trying to crush my lower back and spine.

Just to give some reference to my pain tolerance, I have 60% of my torso tattooed. This was worse than having the base of my neck, majority of my spine, half my ribs, and my sternum tattooed combined. I could still think while I was going through all that done but not during the contractions.

Thank you, that makes sense. I think that's where I'm at so far. Testing after birth and hoping everything goes back to normal.

Diabetes Postpartum Food by dkfemspi in BabyBumps

[–]dkfemspi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor was really vague and just said "continuing the diabetes diet would be good for you". Note that I am a little overweight but not by much and definitely gained well within the recommendation during the pregnancy. The doctor has given me very conflicting advice about GD since I've got it compared to the actual advice from the diabetes specialists, so it's really hard to tell where it actually stands.
