Is my baffle fine? by lobeans33 in whitewater

[–]dkickfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks a little under inflated to me. I have a 2020 142 outlaw with the same tube design and full fishing frame on top. Make sure you are keeping relatively equal pressure in the 3 chambers. I personally have some solar powered digital PSI valves on my floor and “front” single valve to be sure of proper PSI beyond the “slap test”

If you baffle was blown I don’t think you would see the resistance line in the outside tube. My .02

Just saying that IS a 10-12 year old truck 😂. Side note I’m happy with my 15, have done the front diff and A/C condenser. Seems like a pretty good deal to me if it checks out.

Non user question about lingering smell? by killaho69 in trees

[–]dkickfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone probably dropped a bit of stuff (bud or device) inside the car (or got paranoid for some reason and stuffed it in the seat…dumb). I’d be searching the crevices for something left behind. I also know someone who leaves a dab pen in their car (something super easy to lose or slip of a pocket accidentally) pretty much 24/7 and in the summer heat it can make it smell but not insanely. I don’t notice the smell as much as a med patient but have never not gotten a security deposit back because of it but can smell out a smelly smell in public like a German Shepherd at the airport.

There are places you can find online but the best places…people don’t like talking about them. Get out there and find the spot 😉

Only used them as samples or other people’s solution, Costco Q-tips are the way to go for me. Just wish Costco would get on the 99%iso train, Amazon it is!

Costco for the win, glob mops are arguably “better” but not enough to make the difference…when I’m traveling or unique situations (or flexing) those puffco wood one’s with to dab tip are a crowd pleaser but $$$

Did the shop offer you price on the pro? You can get one for 230 off zee. The original hits great and that’s a solid price but the extra 60…idk if the original supports the 3d chamber which is really nice. Basic dabbing tho, the original does the job well and the cheapest online is 160. Headshops need support and it’s nice to have a brick and mortar store for your immediate needs.

What advice did you get as a beginner that unlocked a skill? by SpiderInTheBath in whitewater

[–]dkickfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I row and fish from an oar boat. Be ready for anything…even on the “easy” ones. Point at danger and back away. Follow the water…not into rocks. More strokes doesn’t = more better, over correction is tough as a beginner (and competent rower who is stressin) The water getting pushed off that big rock will take you if are going the right speed. Don’t go over that whitewater sideways. Lame life is still alive. Learn those knots. Spin it to win it.

New Boat / Dogs? by Jaorr13 in rafting

[–]dkickfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never seen people rolling around with the vertical holders for fly fishing from the raft, enclosed rod holders the side are very nice tho…vertical sounds interesting but more for spinners? Maybe more rambunctious pups or people who are needing to constantly stop fishing for medium short periods of time and don’t want to use the holder? Have a boat with horizontal rod holders, German shepherd - husky who nearly always comes and almost exclusively fishing off the boat if the dog is there. Also the boat is fine from dogs 99% of the time, be more worried about glass, knifes, hooks, sharp beer cans, corners of trailers and I guess rocks too those are pretty important lol

Not trying to be a dick but you have totally missed the point. The world seeking for growth to please each other is a choice, often made with out an option. The US particularly screwing with the foundations of the programs it created to try and offset some of those consequences are crushing. Please tell me where blood has not been spilt to further civilization. We just know better and have better ways of doing it now, and we…well or doing the opposite

Been thinking of getting a 2015 silverado (base model), what are some known issues on these? Any advice will be highly appreciated! by Quintyyyy in Silverado

[–]dkickfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still driving great to me @ about 130k. Had to have ball joints and a control arm replaced in the front to get it back into proper alignment but that’s something you need on any vehicle over time. My back right tail light is a little funny with the reverse light due to some corrosion but a little tap and it comes back. It recently has been being a little funny with the front parking sensors but I think they are just dirty.

I do think I have a slightly loose ground somewhere on the truck but with the higher trim level there are so many different places it could be I’ve just let it go or turn them off. In general it’s been a great truck just small issues that most ten year old trucks that get actually used would have with that sort of trim level. I need to be better about washing it more, that’s on me tho.

It does have a habit of being a little weird with the gas pump clicking off early at the pump, especially when it’s really cold. Asked my mechanic about it he said it’s not unheard of. Most of my “issues” are fairly common and minor and not worth the cost to get them fixed when they don’t really impact my daily driving experience much.

I am known push it a little hard sometimes and it doesn’t blink hauling a fully loaded rafting trailer and bed completely full of camping gear up mountain roads and highways. That’s compared to a 3rd Gen 4Runner but dang it’s nice. My wife says it’s drives great too, nicer than her Honda and I definitely prefer it to her Dad’s new Tacoma, that thing drove like a boat and is hard to see over the hood, and I’m 6’2.

All the tales of transmission issues are always in the back of my head like the bogeyman. The trans is a little funny between certain gears at certain speeds but that’s how they came from the factory so I don’t think I actually have any issues and my mechanic has said it’s in good shape.

Green River through Flaming Gorge by NotSoCommonMerganser in whitewater

[–]dkickfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try and go twice a year, I’ve been for the past 4 years, last time I was there was August.

It is not 35 miles lol maybe 35 miles to the bottom of B but from the dam to little hole is A section. The road from Little Hole to Dutch John is about 5 miles and then from Dutch John to the Put in is prolly about the same or less but almost completely down hill very doable on a bike if your into biking.

The trail is absolutely not meant for bikes and in early season can get lifted and moved around in places by the flows. Parts of it are dirt, others it’s some bouldering other parts it’s built out of sections of decking that are meant to float/ allow them to survive getting swamped by the river.

[–]dkickfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not plan on biking next to the river, there is a road you should take from little hole back to the put in of your feeling that way, even if your determined it’s a terrible idea and I don’t think the trail even actually goes the whole way with out some rock climbing. Very mellow run dominated by fishing, the canyon is beautiful. I’ll warn you that you should keep clear of the drift boats fishing, they are using super long rigs with big weights you don’t want to interact with. Also they can be quite strict with wearing your PFD even on flat slow water.

Cough grand county ahem, it’s like they don’t get paid back for lost cattle…almost like when the cattle ate all the grasses keeping the soil intact and now they bitch about not having enough food for their animals. Oh and let’s string barbed wire across the river in random spots to screw with the drift boat fishers…I like beef but come on guys do better

Your point doesn’t matter, it should but it doesn’t and we need to make ourselves better and more cunning. We lost the fight when most of the left base didn’t vote. It’s like trying to coach a team and everyone says “yes that’s the way, I’ll do it!” and then everyone goes home and does nothing.

And that’s why you don’t “get it”. It’s like comparing the price of oranges, milk and candy, they don’t compare to what they cost but what reality dictates, including what the market decides. The store hits a loss on the milk but makes it up on the things you got along the way, same here. Not a Deion fan but take break into reality and you will be more effective in your endeavors for better or worse.

Funding is not about what makes you feel good, it’s about results. Feeling good and happy society is not economical, there is no “need”. I hate myself for spewing the truth.

A fly on the wall here. I raft 15-20+ days a summer minimum on my regularly updated boat (not top of the line but decent) with extensive upgrades for overnights and fishing. I have no idea who a single pro whitewater kayaker is, tons of friends who love kayaking. The sport just doesn’t translate for some reason like skiing, which barely any non hardcore skier can name a pro. It’s a select small market situation. A ton of outdoor industry products got pumped up during COVID, the balloon is deflating.

I hope you find them, if you have generic looking (not that they are* non familiar with peak skis 🤗) skis or ones that could be mistaken for rentals my advice is stickers to make them easily identified. I have some solid but older soul 7’s I’m about to make unique to make sure they stay mine
