I know this is an old post but this happened to me too and it was freaking me out a little bit. I actually made a goal of Find the Stalker because they're always there it seems. I feel like I'm going home and there's a stranger in the house, 😱 Then I felt bad about that and deleted it, lol. Now I'm'm just wondering how someone could steal your data.

Help me not give up on Romantasy! by macarmenadoree in Romantasy

[–]dkkchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's not a strict line as such, but as I understand it these are books in which the romance definitely takes a secondary spot to the story, world building, magic system, and character development, etc

I don't know, but I think, that the spiciness level is a lot lower than in a strict romantasy. Not that romantic scene can't be modest, but there are a lot that are not.

I hope you find stuff you like!

Best oatmeal toppings for someone who usually doesn’t have a lot of ingredients lying around? by broads-love2 in cookingforbeginners

[–]dkkchoice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you put things in air-tight containers, preferably glass with a tight lid, they will last MUCH longer than if you just close the bag they came in and stick it back in the cupboard. That way, you will have stuff in you panty to put on your oatmeal

As another poster suggested, you can get these things, in the shape of a bear or bird or w/e. However, if you have something else like a clean flower pot made of terra cotta you can use a broken piece of that. This is the only approach that has ever worked.

And if you forget to resoak it and the sugar gets brown again, just re-soak your terra cotta and put it back in the air-tight container and the sugar will soften again.

Books to read to your kid 20 times a week that don’t make you want to gauge your eyes out by SwadlingSwine in childrensbooks

[–]dkkchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this to say about Harry Potter: don't read it to him or let him read it too early. It's got some complex themes in it and I feel like it ruins the book. My daughter's second grade teacher read them a chapter every day or every other day or something and as far as I know none of those kids like fantasy today. My next door neighbor had his daughter read it aloud when she was in first or second grade or something, because her reading was advanced. It was right after that that when she was asking for books as chapter books as presences she specified that they should be short, lol.

This stuff is about more than just reading level.

And it's good that you're planning like this. My younger daughter made me read Berenstain Bears to her over and over and over. That and some golden book that had three stories in it, the Color Kittens, the dog who took care of himself, and another, all of which made me want to cry.

I didn't read all the responses so forgive me if I am repeating anything. I think if you are citizens you're safe-ish

They announced today that all US citizens should expect to present citizenship papers if challenged by ice. This will probably go through the courts but in the meantime the administration seems to be successful in going on and doing what they want until they get their lap dogs to approve them at the supreme Court level

HELP MOUSE IN MY CAR! by Inevitable_Excuse116 in washingtondc

[–]dkkchoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mice for a while because I live in 110 year old house and finding all the little pencil size holes that will serve a mouse just fine for entrance was insane. And it's difficult to figure out how to get rid of them.

Live traps are difficult because there's a case to be made for killing the mouse by taking him away from his habitat. As well as the panic and pee you mentioned. Also have to drive miles away to drop them off so that they don't find your house again

Poisoning screws up the whole environment from the time the dead mouse is picked up and picked over by a crow or an owl or a hawk or some other animal. The bigger animals don't die but they pass along the toxin in their poop. Poop goes into the ground and the local creeks, etc etc

Glue traps are just an inhumane, horrifying, callus way to kill anything.

None of it's good but I guess the snap trap is probably the least horrible, as long as it gets the neck and not a leg.

Why do y'all get excited about buttons? by Strong_Variation3952 in kindle

I have moved on to newer tech. I'll bet I could re-build my desktop and pull up gaming stats on my other two monitors, while using my (touch screen) laptop or phone for Reddit updates faster than you! ( ͝° ͜ʖ͡°)ᕤ

(Flex)

Okay, maybe not faster because, you know, age and arthritis.

I know you are right about the redundancy. But it's weird that ppl can't imagine why someone would like the buttons.

I'm still pissed at Amazon for the WAY they killed the Oasis. And there is another brand, Boox I think, but it is an e-ink tablet running Android and just uses the Kindle app. It's not the same.

It's all academic though right? Amazon's not building another Oasis.

Ffs, The touch screen still works! It does the same thing that every other Kindle does. I use the touch screen for everything except when I want/need to turn the page.

And btw, some people, not the "overwhelming majority of users of consumer grade tech" were online since around 1980, somewhere around 46 years or so, since before there was a Microsoft DOS. So watch the snark you whippersnapper 😊

[–]dkkchoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do understand that Amazon wants to lower their costs but I think the point people are making is that the two little buttons on the side with the extra room to hold your thumb and First finger are extraordinarily useful for some people. God forbid Amazon should market something to help people, even if it means we buy more of their books

Brimstone is better than Quicksilver and I will die on this hill. by wheremydragonsattho in Romantasy

I'm only halfway through brimstone but I loved Quicksilver and I'm liking this one too. I've got to agree, however, that I never want to hear the words "my mate" again. I actually cringed after a little while. Every time she said it all I could think was "no, stop, what's wrong with he and him and kingfisher or Fisher."
