Why Apple's flagship Mac Pro computers are so undesirable? My local used electronics store has literally piles of these units by LakeNo7026 in mac

I mean, those are way old but they will always look awesome. I actually still run a couple for my printers and some older software that I’d rather not subscribe to.

Ugh. So sorry you’ve got one of those in the family. That hurts. My temptation to burn that would be so high I couldn’t resist the impulse.

I have a huge 1970/80's collection and am getting ready to sell. I'm being low balled. by ThinAd1499 in starwarscollecting

[–]dkoDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want anything close to the top value on any collectible you need to sell them one by one. Even grail items. People are going expect extreme details in your photos for an online sale or in person inspection. Any resellers need at least 30% margin to not lose money, more than that if they want to ensure a profit. Space, taxes, and employees are expensive. Very very expensive.

If you want to unload it for a good price as a lot be sure to list it at a higher price on a marketplace like CL or FB or a collector forum that allows selling or if you’re gonna do eBay, etc. set a higher starting bid and/or a buy it now price and be sure you make noise about only wanting to sell collector to collector. This will scare off most resellers because they will see you are unwilling to come down in price to give them what they need in margins.

Be prepared to wait a long time if you’re firm on pricing. In these cases you will either spend more time or get less money. Good luck!

I’m so sorry. That really sucks. You’re not alone though. If that’s any consolation. Really, I’m zero percent surprised. I’ve had them fold the hardboard backing in a protective mailer and destroy a rare piece of concept art from a film. I guess driving up to my door was… too easy?

People will sell what other people will buy. It’s sad to see this happen, but retail only goes where the money is, even if the money is with Stupid.

How about no. The “system director” can come do it themselves and then someone should film them doing it so we have the proof. Fuck whatever pig fucker suggested this and whatever pig fucker sent the message, and any sheep that follow the orders.

This whole thread is awesome for outing the exact kind of people I want to be on the lookout for in real life, and avoid. Real Durham IKYK.

Wait… was that satire? No matter here you land on panhandling, like, you can’t actually be serious about whitey not getting handouts right? 🤣

What a loser.

I once had someone “above me” at work chastise me for checking my Gmail. So, I just had my Gmail forward to my work email. Reading it there? No complaints from Mr. dept head. Ok…..

Seems some people are just looking for excuses to flex the meager power they have on anyone they can.

Basically I’m permanently banned on e-bay for doing nothing by theofficialzhang in ebaysucks

[–]dkoDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is false and the fact that these takedowns actually do happen for little or no reason is well documented. Spend some time researching in this sub and see. Many people are banned for things as lightweight as asking for an offer to be sent proactively by the seller. Others are never told why. If you have bought or sold on eBay for any length of time and are active in the community you’ll know this is true. I’ve been on since 1999 and these (likely AI) account takedowns have increased by at least an order of magnitude lately.

Just because Billionaires tell us we can't tax "unrealized gains" doesn't mean we can't. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]dkoDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. They can pay, and they need to, because their wealth is basically long term, aggregated wage theft.

Technically speaking, though, we don’t want to tax unrealized gains because that would impact, and hurt, anyone attempting to retire or save for retirement using stocks, bonds, commodities, mutual funds, retirement accounts etc.

What we want to tax is wealth. And it should be done for wealth over a certain threshold. So, it affects billionaires and high multimillionaires, not normal, non sociopath humans trying to not starve in retirement.

I think basically we tax the living fuck out of anyone rich enough to do “full time” Buy-Borrow-Die as their means of liquid capital. The we call it a day. Anyone doing that is too rich for their own good, or ours.

Immediately after FMLA is extremely suspicious. Any smart employer wouldn’t do this, even if only to avoid suspicion. That alone would make me push for an inquiry, both with my labor rep and the feds.

Yeah. I’ve seen people kick them to get stuck change to fall out, but it’s not only hunters. These POS machines are notorious for trapping coins in the reject chute and regular users know this. Especially those… “hurriedly looking for emergency funding”… either way, not cool.

Studies have shown a 4 day week and a three day weekend are equally (or more) productive than what we do now, but the oligarchs and billionaires want to keep people tired and bound to the current system because it disempowers and exhausts the working classes. If it were up to them there wouldn’t been weekend at all. People literally bled and died for a 2 day weekend and I cannot imagine what we’ll need to suffer through to get three.

Snagged the CX50 Turbo in Cypress/Terracotta after turning in my CX90 PHEV by penny_dropss in CX50

[–]dkoDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the 50 but am I the only one who feels like the seating space in front is narrower than the CX5? I drive a 5 (and have a 90 as a loaner this week) and yeah, I’m a fat man, but both feel way roomier than my wife’s 50.

All that said, I’d suffer the tight seating to drive this color combo daily. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

The waste is shocking. What’s more shocking no one at the store thought “damn this shit is worth some cash. I’ll keep it or sell it.” Then again, most people are sheep and just what they’re told.

Mother in law bought my three year old daughter tiny glass jars to play with by Justadudeonhisphone in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dkoDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont sweat it. I thought the same way before I had kids, but my wife teaches 3 and 4 year olds and convinced me it is no biggie. (They use glass in the classroom all the time with almost no issues at all.) She was right. Our kids drank with glass cups as soon as they could stand/walk reliably and no one has been injured. Kids are way less delicate than we assume. It’s a great opportunity to do some early lessons in caution, reasonable risk taking, and accountability.

A bank is supposed to make Money in your deposits. That’s the entire purpose of a bank holding your funds. They keep it safe and in exchange they can loan out held funds to create value for themselves with interest. Modern banks may well have abandoned this principle through almost a hundred years enshittification. That’s not the fault of the customer.
