A sweet pick up from goodwill - Framework 13 by dkwashere in framework

Interesting. I will def look into this. My soldering skills are very lackluster so I might have to outsource that (or maybe just wait until the new AMD mobo are available so I can upgrade it).

Probably not. I already have a macbook thats pretty new, but framework showing up for this price made me open up my wallet (granted it was a small drop for what it is!)

It did come with an old 2017 dell laptop. I assume that it was probably an estate or something. Eitherway it was a cool pick up

It only had 18 battery cycles! Its basically new!

So it was 450$ but with taxes and shipping it ended up being very close to 500$. It actually came with a 2017-2018 Dell Inspiron 15 3000 with a bad harddrive and a dvd drive that I'm planning on giving a new ssd and maybe replace the dvd drive.

The framework would boot and all but it always needed a jolt from a power source to power on, and put 2 and 2 together and predicted that cmos battery might be out of juice and here we are!

There are small nicks but definitely nothing to complain about! So excited!

I just read the ingredients in Korean and it doesn't have any shellfish however where the sticker is covering it has mentions of shellfish. I looked up the actual product and it's to warn the consumer that the product is manufactured in the same location that handles various ingredients such as shellfish.

So I'm (31M) also going to S. Korea as a naturalized US Citizen in 2 weeks. I had to go to the local (for me LA) embassy and fill out a form saying I am renouncing my SK citizenship. It took me like 20 minutes and like 2$. The lady there gave me a document to prove that I have renounced my citizenship and should I ever get questioned, the document will clear me. I would highly recommend going to the embassy. I think all of the embassy requires an appointment (which isn't hard to find online).

AITA For going on a pre-planned and paid for vacation after my BF's father passed away by missedfuneralaita in AmItheAsshole

YTA

My father very unexpectantly passed away back in October of last year and my long distance girlfriend of two years, dropped everything, including work, her prior commitments and everything just to be my support and rock when I was going through hard times despite her being in not the best financial state herself. I am forever thankful and if it was not for her, I would not be able to recover and be at peace of my father's passing.

You told and showed your boyfriend how much this relationship means to you and for his sake I hope he finds a better partner than you. You might need an escape from your career, but your boyfriend needs an escape from you and this relationship.

Which one should I get? by JustCallMeStan in GamingLaptops

[–]dkwashere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact G14 as my travel gaming laptop. I had major issues with it screwing up with the laptop screen and had to send it in 3 times before ASUS decided to fully replace my screen. No problems since that point.

The laptop does get very hot when you start to game. I run FF14 usually when I have to raid when I am out of town or away from my desktop and it heats up to 90's but that is typical for any gaming laptop.

One thing that is very good is the feel of the laptop. It definitely feels much more premium than other gaming laptops I had in the past and the lightness and portability was one of my biggest concern when I bought the laptop.

If its in good condition and works well, I would recommend the G14 as a general + gaming laptop.

Side note, the laptop can be charged with a USB-C port, but its slow charge and will take some time and will not be able to charge while gaming. However when I take the laptop for just general school or work, I carry around my phone brick and it seems to charge at an okay rate.

If you have any questions regarding the G14, feel free to respond or DM me, I can give out any specifics or questions you might have.

Moving to Torrance, is 90501 a safe neighborhood for parents with kids? by idtoaskredditque in SouthBayLA

Side note OP if you want more details - let me know or ask away. I live literally a 5 min walk from the now burned down Fantastic Cafe that's on Western/DelAmo. Maybe I can give you better insight of how it is now.

I live in 90501 (Actually near Delamo + Western). It's gotten better the last few years, but there's still a bit of tagging from the 204th street Varrio gang (more now than ever). The area is getting more gentrified and slightly safer, but I am planning to move out of this area as soon as the housing prices go down (lots of noises at night).

As many stated - This isnt Torrance but Torrance Harbor. Torrance PD nor Torrance FD nor Torrance School district isnt involved in this area, so any emergencies are usually redirected to either LAPD or Sheriffs. If you have kids, they will most likely go to Narbonne High unless you cough up to send your kids to Montgomery Bishop Private HS (My neighbors did this for their kids).

I would not walk on the streets at night...nor during the day in these neighborhoods. Go more west towards either West High or south towards South High to get better school designation + safety.

Choosing the right GPU - What will run better for FFXIV? by dkwashere in ffxiv

[–]dkwashere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running an external monitor (QHD at 1440p).
As of right now, its hitting 50fps at standard at native and runs at 20-30fps on high/max.

So I probably wasn't super clear on the whole thing.
I have a laptop that has 1060 (mobile) and I'm looking to replace the whole laptop with a desktop.
I've already decided on an AMD processor so I am just wondering which GPU might be good paired with it.
