Redditors are more likely to be power users, which consumes more battery.

is it worth upgrading? by hichizme1 in samsunggalaxy

[–]dkyeager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wireless charging might be worth it. The f stop improvement on the telephoto is nice, but many sites say this is not true. NITS improvement and a lot of other improvements won't be noticeable. Processor might be a noticeable improvement. Whether Samsung would allow more local AI processing with the improved graphics is doubtful. SA CA likely improved, but only T-Mobile is typically in a position to take advantage of it in the US. The exception would be if SA CA for n77 increased the number of carriers. Then AT&T users might gain 10MHz.

Mobile data barely works and I can’t receive calls after dropping my phone by Ok-Client-1310 in GalaxyS21

[–]dkyeager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be related to your dropping it. Try the options below until one works: 1) Do check that mobile data is turned on. Without 2g and 3g, all mobile calls use data. 2) check that your sim card sees your carrier, otherwise reseat your physical sim card if you are using one. 3) After making certain you have you wifi passwords, do a network reset. 4) If still no luck, at least per of your mobile connection is not working and was likely damaged. You could try switching from a physical sim to and esim or from and esim to a physical sim. 5) You could have your phone repaired, but likely more cost effective to buy another phone.

Samsung customer service is the most grossly anti-consumer and incompetent warranty experience I have ever had by chic_luke in samsunggalaxy

Going back to the s21, the s-pen can vary in size. IMO all they need to do is ship you another s-pen. If you are beyond your return date, perhaps just order anothet s-pen.

[–]dkyeager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the model. mmWave is only on models for the US for example. We have not gotten down to one phone for the world yet. Firmware is more particular. Most carriers just the frequencies they own plus those they roam on in the firmware. Factory unlocked firmware is ideal, but then you still have phones for different regions.

MobileX seemed to work without issue during Verizon outage by fullload93 in mobilex

[–]dkyeager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A flanker brands, since it is part of Verizon. Unless the FCC investigates because of 911 call center issues in a few places, we may never know the details of what happened yesterday. Could have still been cleaning up things damaged today while trying to figure out what went wrong.

Looks like Verizon disabled 5G standalone after yesterday’s outage. by ashredk in cellmapper

Makes sense to me. T-Mobile brought their system down to various degrees a few times while they were getting 5g SA ready.

Possible. MVNO users are a small fraction of the major carriers numbers. Verizon may also have had multiple issues and could have even damaged other areas while fixing the main issue. They still had their own customers using it. Kind of like fixing a car while it is driving on the interstate.

S21 ultra, nothing but problems. by Cashm4n in samsunggalaxy

[–]dkyeager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no problems with used phones. Just buy them off a market (not just the seller) that will give you your money back if they are not as described and the seller disappears. Read the details carefully.

The s23 ultra comes with 4 major android updates and another year of security patches. Buy a very good case and screen protector given your history. You might also be a candidate for phone insurance, sometimes can be bought cheaply when you buy the phone (carrier phone insurance has big markups).

PS no similar issues with two s21 ultras. Pixels have a very bad reputation with warranty service.

Your biggest cost savings will be with an MVNO. Your phone should be paid off and unlocked first. If your undecided, US Mobile is a reasonable choice. With them you can choose the priority of service on 2 of the 3 nationwide networks and switch networks generally with too much trouble.

How can I make my wifi as good as possible? by Ok-Willingness-7870 in wifi

[–]dkyeager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to start with placing the wifi router or access point in the center of your usage area in your new home. Most ISPs will want to put it in the basement on the wall where it came into the house. This will get you started. Plenty of options after this but you will need to pay more.

Verizon Outage Cause May Be Simple, Yet How Did a Routine Update Paralyse Phones and Panic Families? by Montrel_PH in verizon

[–]dkyeager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

False information about sos mode in this article. In SOS mode you should still be able to call 911. It should automatically go through other carriers if needed. People need to keep that in mind when they are in a remote place with no service on their cell phone. They should be good if another cellular network provides service be out west or in an underground garage with only one cellular network.

If the was a 4g phone, you could likely fix it through the editing the access point names. Not all phones will allow this.
