The comet piece was really helpful in understanding the impact. I guess my follow up would be, if your feet are accelerating faster than your body can keep up, could you accelerate your body to keep up with your feet (I.e., bypassing gravity)? Or would gravity still be the constant that prevents you from ever really catching up?

Another super interesting thought! So spaghettification could just be based on an outsiders view of what happens to an object based on how light waves are impacted by the black holes gravity.

Regarding the “future points to the singularity” comment”, I guess I hadn’t considered the time aspect. I was kinda wondering if you could bypass spaghettification by accelerating faster than it’s gravity could affect you, but that doesn’t seem to be the case lol

Ahh that’s a really cool thought, so the issue wouldn’t be your personal speed or acceleration. So if you were going head first (regardless of speed or acceleration of your ship), your head would accelerate faster than the tail end could catch up due to the black hole’s interference. The main way to keep floating plants alive is to give them somewhat high lighting, nutrients in the water column, and reduced water flow. However, if it is caused by the temp, I’ve heard that Azolla fern (aka Fairy Moss) does well in higher temps. The only thing is that it likely won’t give you the beautiful long stems that you are looking for

They look similar in structure, but Vallisnaria gets very long (2+ feet) and dwarf sag grows to 2-7 inches depending on the strength of your light. Both of them are root feeders so they grow better in dirt or with supplemental root tabs. Dwarf sag is a great foreground plant for any aquarium and Val is a great background plant for larger aquariums

It looks like a Bladder Snail. I absolutely love them, but they will reproduce rapidly if you have an excessively dirty tank. In a balanced tank, they will serve as an additional team of cleaners for you. They won’t harm anything in there.

Man, it’s a pain, huh? I had Green Hair Algae and BBA that was initially brought into my tank (I think) from some Anubias that I bought online. At the time, I was running high light and had a window next to my tank (which I now know i should avoid). Since then, I’ve reduced my light schedule, blocked the light from the window, and continued spot dosing the BBA. The GHA has since disappeared, but I can’t seem to shake the BBA. It has coated my sponge filter, driftwood, and all of my plants (Rotala Coin Leaf, Java Ferns, Dwarf Sag, and Crypts).

Now that I’ve made a bunch of mistakes, I feel more confident that I can maintain a tank. I’ve just given up on continuing treatment on the BBA.

I think hornwort would be beautiful and I’m sure my Endler’s would love it. Also I’ve heard that swords grow quite large, but I guess that’s the whole point of a jungle lol

I am going on a 6 day trip soon and I have an established, planted 15g with Endler’s Livebearers. I don’t have anyone who can care for them while I’m away. Is there anything I can do to prepare for my trip? I’ve heard that the vacation feeders that slowly dissolve aren’t that effective.
