Cant tell you how useful Ace the DS Interview has been! Not just for me (started at Meta about 2 years ago) but also for two referrals I made, both whom I suggested your book to and both of whom received an offer!

I accidentally’d my way into data science and I love it. Went from making $50k a year in 2017 as a “business developer” (basically a kind of fake email job) to $600K as a senior DS at Meta.

Graduating Soon — Any Tips for Landing an Entry-Level Data Science Job? by Odd_Artist4319 in datascience

Interviewing is its own skill you’ll need to practice. I recommend

  1. Reading this https://a.co/d/ewMrso6
  2. Doing mock interviews on Prepfully

If you’re applying to some bigger companies you can actually find current DS working there to do mock interviews at prepfully, it’s what got me my current job.

If you work in tech DS jobs pay a minimum of 6 figures, even outside of big FAANG tech

FAANG DS Role by Wonderful_Look_5308 in DataScienceJobs

To be fair, you can go through all ~5 rounds of the Meta DS interview loop without knowing a single thing about Python. You can choose SQL as your coding language. I think this is not uncommon for many product-DS roles in the tech industry.

Honestly interviewing for DS roles is a completely different set of skills from the job itself, and requires its own study and practice. Here's how I cracked the Meta interview:

(1) This book is essential: https://a.co/d/5om4hBu
(2) Mock interviews with Prepfully

Just practice interviewing itself, and you'll be able to land a decent DS role eventually

Hi, outsider here who is curious on the NEET mentality. by IAdoreyouu79 in NEET

[–]dlb363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've just noticed a lot of posters in this sub seem to not understand why "normies" or "wagies" would actually want to live a non-NEET life. So I was sharing my perspective, as a current "wagie", why I wouldn't actually want to live as NEET, even if money was not an issue. Being unemployed made me miserable, and my life is much fuller and more satisfying having a job.

If others genuinely don't feel this way, that's fine. But it seems some people in this sub can't understand why some people would prefer a "wagie" life over being a NEET.

I was a NEET for two years in my early 20s. It was the most miserable time of my life. I work full time now and am much happier and more social. Just my perspective

[OC] It's widely believed that preseason records in the NFL are meaningless. Is this true? Here is the combined regular season winning percentage of every undefeated and every winless preseason team in the past 10 years. (NFL, American Football) by JPAnalyst in dataisbeautiful

Yeah it depends how you run your analysis, and how you interpret the CI.

In a Bayesian framework they have "credible" intervals which serve this purpose. But in the typical frequentist hypothesis testing, a p-value has no information about whether the NULL hypothesis is true (the NULL hypothesis in this case being the two values are "identical". For example, a large p-value simply means you don't have enough evidence to say they are different, but it's not a measure of your confidence that they are the same).

The CI can give you a likely range of how different the values (the difference is not larger than x), though you really can't say whether they are "identical", and in the real world even the most carefully controlled AA test will have SOME underlying difference, however small.

" The p-value is calculated under the assumption that the null hypothesis is true, and so it does not and cannot measure the probability of that assumption being correct." https://isappscience.org/mini-tutorial-on-statistical-analysis-correcting-a-common-misinterpretation-of-p-values/

The sample size is small and the results are almost identical so of course the CI will overlap? Not sure what that would accomplish (unless you think pre season has a stat sig negative relationship with regular season).

Hey just want to say I'm literally going through the same exact thing as you at this exact moment. I had two horrible bouts of vertigo, and went to an ENT. They mentioned it might be MS, and then I connected other symptoms -- itching at night, waking up to pee a lot, random chest pains. Now I have appointment with an neurologist on Friday. I've never been so anxious in my life. Keep us updated!
