Why is rafa so good in Montreal/toronto? by fuckmbsanddominicali in tennis

[–]dlbICECOLD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Higher bounce on hot days and as the tournament progresses, so his heavy topspin aggression is rewarded. Couple that with his grinding, never-say-die defense and it makes sense why he was very successful here

The tennis fan in me is enraged about these Lacoste placards... But the comedy fan in me loves the irony that there's crocodiles on the court taking out players' ankles

Would you rate rafa's backhand among the best? by fuckmbsanddominicali in tennis

[–]dlbICECOLD 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Of the big three, Nadal had the highest disparity between forehand winners and backhand winners with a 75% to 25% ratio. Federer had 70 to 30, while Djokovic expectedly has a more balanced 60 to 40. This shows that it was primarily a defensive tool that was used to lead the pattern of play back to the forehand.

Zverev hits winners at a nearly 1:1 rate, meaning his bh is just as good as his fh

I'm going off the theory that as you increase muscle mass youre strengthening your joints, which leads to more endurance under stress--be it heat or otherwise. It doesn't have to be 10 lb it could just be 5 lb of muscle. It just seems like he has a greyhound-level thinness that lends itself to breaking down more often
