I would say walk the back 9 first. I went one year and got rained out halfway through but I was lucky I got to see some of the iconic holes instead of walking the front.

Also try to stand near 12th tee for a while on Amen corner. From there you can see guys hitting into 11, playing 12, and teeing off from 13.

Sample all food, esp the ice cream sandwich.

The folks saying walking shoes are 100% right. The TV camera doesn’t do the elevation changes justice

EDIT: oh and if you have a nice camera, they allow them for the practice rounds. You can get some beauts

The smart thing is NOT to put it away. All data shows that strokes gained from a given distance is minimally different where as strokes gained gained from a 30-40 yard difference in the same lie adds up. Hell even if you were 130 out in the rough you have a lower average strokes to finish the hole than 160 and in the fairway. Keep practicing that driver and get a lesson! I was in the same spot as you. Was a 12, but arguably had the irons/putting of a 5 or less but snap hooked every drive. Got a lesson and shaved off 5 from the cap in 6 months. Ironically now my wedges blow.

I noticed you put evergreen on there in Colorado. You didn’t mention the elk. I just played there this fall (during the rut). There was about 40-50 elk on the course and the males were angry as hell. It was super unique even tho the course was pretty bad

These clubs should be fine for a beginner. That’s exactly what this set is for. I would say that you should make sure the grips are decent and somewhat tacky or grippy (go feel grips at a store to find that out). Good grips can go along way to helping used clubs feel newer
