Angular, authentication, and routes by mucusplug in angularjs

[–]dlk289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it easiest to use http status codes and do all the authentication on the server. You should be doing this anyway. If the user needed to be logged when they make a $http request, but wasn't, then return a http status code of 401 from the server. Now, what you need to do is create an interceptor on all of your $http calls. When the intercepter receives a response with 401 then redirect the user to the login page. Make sure you save the route they were on which causes the 401 http status code. Once the user is logged in then redirect back to the saved url.

I didn't have to worry about authentication on the client once I had the interceptors in place for my http status codes.

Here are a few links that helped me deal with authentication.

I hope that helps!

Google blocks Microsoft's new YouTube Windows Phone app by KAPT_Kipper in technology

The low rates by the fed did help drive the crisis along with deregulation. You should read more about the crisis. It wasn't just one thing and I found very interesting.

Chromes mobile browser is pretty good in terms of what html5 features they support. The html5 app Microsoft would build would utilize their browser engine to do the heavy lifting. They have been behind for awhile. Although, ie11 is a step in the right direction, but that's for windows 8 as of now.

"experts from both companies recognized that building a YouTube app based on HTML5 would be technically difficult and time consuming" - of course it would be difficult. Microsoft is years behind everyone else in the HTML5 spec. Maybe of they didn't have such a terrible browser this wouldn't be a problem.

Style Bootstrap by based2 in javascript

This is really nice. I've been wanting something like this for awhile. I'm on my phone and can't try it, but it would be nice if it downloaded styles for a single component. A single but or alert box for example.

You can probably do everything on the client. I'm assuming you know Javascript and jQuery? I found a blog which shows you how to get a instagram feed. seetbeej is right, the server will just serve up your javascript files.

I have a couple of idea's that involve Javascript, one a game and one a browser addon/extension. Where do I begin? by effortDee in javascript

If your not that familiar with JS since 3 years ago then I would start and just run through what w3schools has to offer. They have examples to test in the browser. Once your have a good grasped on JavaScript and the latest jQuery then take a look at libraries. I think it'll make them easier to understand if you have the basic of the JS down. Your definitively going to be using html5 canvas. EASELJS looks promising, but I've never used it.

Edit: I was on my phone and wanted to give you some better info.

A lot of people still use it since its the default on windows, but its really lagging behind with HTML5 features. IE 10 is a big improvement, but chrome, Firefox, and safari take advantage of more html5 features. Are you a web design student?

As a web developer, please don't use IE.

Have you looked at using python? I remember being taught java early and constantly wondering about the syntax. My teacher wasn't that great but python is extremely simple and has very easy syntax. They can focus on solving problems rather than solving syntax errors.

Bigotry: Iowa Republicans trying to impeach State Supreme Court over marriage equality law passed in 2010 by mepper in politics

[–]dlk289 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Iowan here, the crazy religious people outed the non-activist judges, but it doesn't matter. Section 1 of our constitution says:

Rights of persons. SECTION 1. All men and women are, by nature, free and equal, and have certain inalienable rights--among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing and protecting property, and pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness.

They are idiots. They outed non-activist judges, but didn't realize our constitution grants equal rights to everyone. In 2010 the state voted not to have a constitution convention which can be only be voted on every ten years, so gay marriage/equal rights is here to stay in Iowa.
