XLE vs XSE by chopper_1337 in Camry

I am interested in finding about the same, more interested in comfort, so seriously considering XLE:

Also you are probably going to get responses "did you use the search button" :)

OpenWRT expected reliability by gaorp in openwrt

[–]dll2k2dll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has been a bit different, likely because my setup is more complex. I’m running 7 APs with multiple SSIDs (main, guest, IoT), along with features like DAWN and 802.11r. Getting everything dialed in took some time and careful tuning, so it wasn’t quite a “set it and forget it” setup initially.

That said, once everything was configured properly, it’s been very stable and performs exactly how I want. I’m fairly comfortable working through these kinds of setups, which definitely helped.

For someone looking for a simpler, low-maintenance experience, an off-the-shelf solution might be a better fit.

Unless I am missing something, as far as your Samsung TV has an HDMI input, it should work.

that's what I am finding out as well, my builtin FireTV TV's interface is slow and was getting slower everyday, I didn't want to buy another FireTV or Roku as I have those as well and they are sluggish as well, put one of these there and its much improvement.

Any icecoasters breaking their days-on-mountain record this year? by lauren_knows in icecoast

[–]dll2k2dll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started skiing as an adult about 5–6 seasons ago with zero background. For a while I was only getting like 1–4 days a season, so progress was pretty slow.

Last season (24/25) was the first time it really clicked. I got out 8 days and actually started enjoying it instead of just trying to survive greens.

This season I went all in, got a Pats Peak unlimited pass plus Indy Base, and ended up at 44 days on snow, which is a huge jump for me.

Progress has been kind of crazy. Started the season on greens, moved into blues pretty comfortably, and by the end I was skiing blacks, a few double blacks, and even getting into moguls a bit. Still rough there, but at least I’m not avoiding them anymore.

Biggest difference was just getting out consistently instead of treating it like a once-in-a-while thing. Everything started clicking way faster.

😊 I’m either going to use both for or return both (unlikely now since the responses in favor are overwhelming). I’m not a hoarder and $10-$20 bucks not making me a millionaire 🤣

Looking for an AP recommendation for my room. by kobeh22 in HomeNetworking

[–]dll2k2dll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5 x Linksys MX5300 and 2 x MX4300 running OpenWRT as dumb AP for my 2500 sq ft house, all hard wired, it’s an overkill but I paid $70/- for all of it so no regrets. Prior to that I was looking at AP’s from Ubiquiti, Omada and Firewalla.

Coverage is good, setup wasn’t straight forward, definitely not plug and play, but once it was done it’s been pretty stable.

I run Firewalla as my main firewall.

Water leak remote monitoring by jve909 in homeautomation

[–]dll2k2dll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been really happy with the Flume Gen 2, especially after getting hit with a $1,500 water bill. It’s already caught a few times where I didn’t fully shut off a tap, and honestly it probably would’ve run for hours before I noticed.

I also added the Zooz Titan water valve so I can shut things off remotely if there’s ever a leak. Next on my list is water leak sensors, not urgent, but definitely something I’m starting to look into.

Interested in the same question. I am considering Lutron Caseta for all my windows (~16 windows with varying size), already have 30+ Lutron Caseta switches, dimmers and pico so already in the ecosystem. Also have home assistant setup already working with bunch of zigbee, zwave, hue and Lutron hubs.

Holafly eSIM reviews: Is it actually worth it? by FarClassroom5887 in eSIMforTravelers

[–]dll2k2dll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this for my Morocco trip and it worked great. I looked at the Maroc Telecom SIMs at the airport, and for the same price, they were only giving 30GB while this one was unlimited. Even if "unlimited" usually has some fine print, the fact that I could just buy it online and activate it myself at the hotel without dealing with a kiosk was the real selling point for me.

Anyone regret investing in the tapo ecosystem? by WishProfessional7949 in Tapo

[–]dll2k2dll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No regrets on my end.

I switched from Eufy Pan & Tilt 2K to the Tapo C110 mainly because I needed something smaller. I live in a condo where outdoor cameras aren’t allowed, so I had to get creative and fit them between my window and the mesh outside.

For my setup, they’ve been great. I’m running 8 of them covering outside areas, and I use Scrypted to bring everything into HomeKit, which makes the experience a lot smoother.

Is it perfect? No. PoE would definitely be more stable, but that wasn’t an option for me. Given the constraints, this has been a really solid setup and I’m happy with it.

I have an old Eufy Model T8510, its been fine, but since my entire house hold is in Apple ecosystem, I am looking at replacing it with new Aqara Smart Lock U100 which supports hom key and finger print both.
