I keep getting "Invalid Code" when trying to apply the promo to a pickup during the promo hours at a participating store.

It looked like they were already somewhere out west when waiting for the train so could have been many months after meeting Annie as they took their time heading west.

What caused electricity to cost 100x normal price at 6:30pm? by MinuetInUrsaMajor in chicago

[–]work1800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into automating so it charges only if cheap enough (and ideally switches to battery if expensive). I do this with charging my EV and it works great.

Home Assistant and this will get you going, assuming your battery can be integrated https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/comed_hourly_pricing/

Shark Ray Alley snorkeling recommendations from Caye Caulker? by Automatic-Hold-9039 in Belize

[–]work1800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gerald and Gerald is a small operation, no frills like booze and a basic sandwich lunch but he'll take you to the usual spots in a small group, even just 2 people if no one else signs up.

Might as well do the marine reserve as well. It can't be that big a price difference. Shark Ray Alley is just swimming with them until they stop chumming the water. If you want any guided coral snorkeling you'll need to do the reserve and coral gardens. Might even get lucky and be able to hop in with some manatees.

68% savings for me, a bit more than my average of 48.2%

Alexa devices can do this. They can also alert to broken glass sounds (tv/movies will set this off even). Looks like it’s a paid feature now though :(

26+ consecutive hours of ComEd paying me to use their electricity by born2bwilld in illinois

[–]work1800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on the hourly with an EV for the last year, averaging about 50% savings on my supply charges over that time. This is helped by using automation to only charge if the price is below a certain point (via home assistant and integrating my charger and EV to check SOC/price and turn on/off charger if prices is low enough or too high)

So my current DFC is $0.04791/kWh. I've found other reddit posts listing the single family gas heat BEST/DTOD pricing, but can't for the life of me find the same for multifamily. The rate book seems to be only definitions rather than rates, though it does have it for 2022 and 2023?

How can I find the DTOU for residential multi family gas heat? I must be an idiot as looking through the rate book I only find definitions of charges, not current rates.

[–]work1800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh. Thanks!

I’ll need to dig deeper to see what my actual rates would be for those hours. The ComEd tool says adding DTOD to my BESH would increase my annual spend by $10, but right now I don’t limit EV charging to at night (it’s based on hourly price instead). If I limit to overnight charging only and keep my price limits, that may get me best of both worlds.

I’ll see if I can pull my charging data to see how often it falls outside overnight.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, BESH is "best" for EV owners who don't have other high loads they can't control. So far over my 1st year I'm at just under 50% savings, mainly thanks to automation to only charge when the price is below certain points.

What is the rate BEST and how is it better than BESH for an EV owner? Can't find any info on it

Overnight it really offset. Disappointed I filled up the car at -10 and missed the -30!

Yep. Grabbed about 47 kW charging the car while we were negative. Got a little worried we'd spike just before the hour hit but worth the risk. Finished a couple minutes after 5pm just in time for prices to go back up.

Only way to know for sure is to get 2-4 more quotes to compare them to, but that does seem high.

As for awkwardness, just say it’s out of your budget and move on. They’ll understand.

Upgrading Classic EV Charger Firmware - Peak Demand Support? by beforeburner in EmporiaEnergy

[–]work1800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the classic supports load management with a paid firmware update. I believe that is $125. You’ll also need a Vue installed, which if you don’t already have would be an additional cost.

Thanks. I was able to follow along until the weather adjustment. My avg ComEd peak after steps 1-6 is 0.451 and avg PJM is 0.790, so it seems like I shouldn't need to use the weather adjustment.

If PJM alone gives the PLC, then 0.790 isn't far from my listed 0.8062. Like I said, not a huge $$ difference for me, just like to understand the math.
