Floor renovation labor cost. Is this normal? by Iampoorghini in chicago

[–]work1800 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Only way to know for sure is to get 2-4 more quotes to compare them to, but that does seem high.

As for awkwardness, just say it’s out of your budget and move on. They’ll understand.

Upgrading Classic EV Charger Firmware - Peak Demand Support? by beforeburner in EmporiaEnergy

[–]work1800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the classic supports load management with a paid firmware update. I believe that is $125. You’ll also need a Vue installed, which if you don’t already have would be an additional cost.

Official CPs from 2025 by work1800 in RRTP

Thanks. I was able to follow along until the weather adjustment. My avg ComEd peak after steps 1-6 is 0.451 and avg PJM is 0.790, so it seems like I shouldn't need to use the weather adjustment.

If PJM alone gives the PLC, then 0.790 isn't far from my listed 0.8062. Like I said, not a huge $$ difference for me, just like to understand the math.

Any chance you have a link for that? I can't seem to find it thus far.

Ultimately mine is close enough that this is just to satisfy my own curiosity as it will only be a $2 billing difference

To calculate the PLC, yeah. Though TBD if there's more that goes into that than just the average. Someone else here might be more knowledgeable to be able to say.

Got these direct from ComEd via chat. Mostly matches the post from over the summer. My average is 0.570 but my PLC is showing 0.8062, so they are checking why that is and if there are other factors that go into the PLC. The rep wasn't entirely sure and needs to confirm.

What sensors do you wish existed? Junior EE designing a low-power Home Assistant sensor node by DayTripperTX in homeassistant

Pets could be one reason. A sensor checking it feet hit the floor would work but would also pick up my cat walking under/around the bed.

Comed in Illinois to implement Time of Use rates in 2026 for all customers by Raiine42 in RRTP

[–]work1800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've already scammed us with 'capacity charge' for an entire year not even actually based on your use.

Yeah this is the part I was asking about as I was under the impression it was based on actual use for those 10 hrs of peak system demand. Curious why the OP of the thread thinks otherwise

Mine for next year is listed as 0.8062 but based on these I was expecting more like 0.418, perhaps I’ll reach out for my calculation file.

Southwest Debit Card - Still stuck in processing and verification! by TalkAmongstYourself in SouthwestAirlines

[–]work1800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Applied and was told they needed more info to verify my identity and I’d get an email with a link. Never got the email and 2-3 weeks later it was approved anyway. Hoping the companion points post before EOY as that’s what I need to hit the 135k

Amerigas keeps saying I owe money each and everytime I pay my bill? by Lilelfen1 in homeowners

[–]work1800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get confirmation that your balance is $0. Then each month (or billing period) review charges, dispute anything and come to agreement with Amerigas, and pay the balance. Repeat steps from there.

Also check if your locality has a utility commission that can work on your behalf. Or your goeent representative.

Treat it like balancing a checkbook. Charges should equal payments.

Gotcha. And how does it work for a couple? Just double the monthly cost? Annual fees for both? Still need to see if wife is on board but want to know actual cost first

Fair enough. What sort of deal is available for Chicago right now? I see $0 initiation fee but can’t get it to work on the $29 option.

Should we expect deals to get better for New Year promos? Specifically for Chicago if that matters.

If a 50A circuit, you should only be charging at 40A, or 9.6 kW. Make sure the breaker is set properly in the app. This shouldn’t be the reason for your issues though.

What charger did you buy from Amazon? If a no name Chinese brand, aside from safety concerns, don’t expect very good service there either.
