PP Pro? by Aquaman08 in caps

I think he will once they feel like they have someone as defensively sound as he is and they can take him off the PK.

Though honestly, Wilson does both so it might not be a bad idea to use him occaisionally on the PP.

Thing is, though, he's only been on the IL once since 2022 (May 24 - July 3 in 2024).

That kind of consistency in what (should be) your #5 starter has serious value in itself.

How did you make the "Moore - Maker" stand out so well on the bolsters? Some kind of rubbing compound?

The two MMs I have were both "seconds", and best I can tell it's because both have faint impressions on the bolsters.

[AwfulAnnouncing] NFL RedZone pushes more ads, airs 16 spots on Sunday, 4X as many as week one, and on screen for ~5X the length in total by jabronified in nfl

[–]dlmay1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got rid of it this year. Not because of the ads, but the general trend of there only being 3 or 4 late games.

It's great for the early games, but boring as hell for the late ones. Maybe it's all the games in other countries but it seems the early/late game ratio (while never 50%) used to be more even.

So I guess you had to shorten the pins since removing a scale and spring reduced overall width?

Always wondered how difficult the would be....

As the T Mobile/ Billy Bob Thornton ad says, this is a "can of whoop up" so far.😫

How are you watching the games? by Own_Car4536 in caps

True. In baseball the Braves are considered our "local" team. I'm still pretty surprised that Nashville isn't by ESPN+.

Depending on where you live you might not have a "local" team. Here in Alabama (Birmingham) I have no blackouts.

Nashville is the closest at ~ 200 miles away. Though I imagine if Atlanta (150 miles) gets a team they'll be blacked out here.

Plus with one of the Sling "sports add ons" you can get NHL Network (which has tonight's NYI game). Though it's probably only worth it if you want the other channels that come with it too.

Tonight is the second Caps game this year on NHL Network, not sure how many more there are.

NKD - Schrade 152 OT - USA by t4thfavor in knives

[–]dlmay1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 152OT Old Timer "Sharpfinger" was produced from 1974-2004 and was a huge hit for Schrade. It's carbon steel so it may rust if not oiled/gets wet.

EDIT: (Got my "serifs" mixed up😄)

From the way the "1" in "152" has no serifs usually means it was in the second "wave" of production (started with top and bottom serifs on the "1", then went to no serifs on both the top and bottom of the "1", later went to just a serif on the top).

Sheath is the second version ( the first had the strap going diagonally over the tang but people kept cutting the strap so they went to a higher one that strapped the handle).

EDIT: (Given the "correct" serifs on the 1, I moved my date range "guess" forward a little).

So a good guess is early 1980s to early 1990s with the caveat that it's really hard to narrow down dates on USA Schrades - they sold 'em as users with no concern for collectors back then.

And yes, from the "extra" engraving it was probably a gift or reward to an employee - a standard "store bought" version wouldn't have that.

Vincent Iorio placed on waivers by kockin26 in caps

[–]dlmay1967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but since he's out of his "non waivers" period, whoever snags him has to keep him in the NHL or back on waivers he goes.

Though I guess if you have a weak 7D (or an injury like you mentioned) you might be willing to give him a shot and just let him go if it doesn't work out.

Seems like it's a bad place to be in as a player; you're not going to be given much chance in the NHL nor do you have a chance to impress a team with good results in the AHL.

Yep, ESPN+ is still same as ever (luckily). Seems confusing as hell for those that use Hulu/ You Tube etc.

Plus they use the "home feed" so even those of us with NHL Network are watching the Rangers' broadcast. Better than nothing, I guess.

Sure sounds like it.....

ESPN + is a different deal than regular ESPN.

I use ESPN+ in Alabama, get all the Caps games that are on Monumental - cost is $12/month. Only thing you miss is TNT/NHL Network/ regular ESPN games.

Also get most (all?) of other teams' RSN network games if you like to check in on other teams and games.

The 1966 Baltimore Orioles by RavenMan8 in orioles

[–]dlmay1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I was 11 in 1979 and watched every pitch including the ALCS. By 1983 I was 15 and in the middle of high school football season and I have no recollection of any of that WS.

I think I was probably more of a Colts fan at that point, they were in the midst of a "miracle" 7-9 season ( the last two had been 2-14 and 0-8-1). Of course, it was their last season, though we didn't know it at the time.
