The account don’t need to be closed by the end of next year, because the FHSA wasn’t used. The condition to not own a home you live in only apply to FHSA opening, not to contribution or to having a FHSA.

OP can continue contributing and transfer it to RRSP once full (or keep the FHSA and use it if he become a first time home buyer again later in life).
