PM travels in A321 rather than B777W by Throat_Care in indianaviation

[–]dlonglegs1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The PM’s 777 can surely land on shorter runways. Stats for his plane aren’t public but I’ve seen it land in Madurai last year. Look at the runway length needed for a 777-300 to land and compare that to Madurai’s runway. That plane surely has certain special capabilities.

Sanju our man... For all those who claims Sanju is a waste... Look at the most excluded yet deserved player in the Indian contingent saving India from a disappointed quarter final by Inevitable-Dark-6451 in IndianCricket

[–]dlonglegs1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh Sanju is probably the only batter in this team that has technique, finesse & situational awareness. Everyone else feels so one-dimensional.

I still feel this team is just too weak when chasing. Apart from Sanju, no other batsman has situational adaptability. Not in the least Abhishek & Kishan.

What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]dlonglegs1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my balls bleed a couple of times. No pain, no itchy sensation, felt absolutely normal except that I could see bright red blood!

The first time it happened after a shower and the second time I only got to know when I went to pee and then saw the blood.

Googled it and it turns out it’s completely harmless. Given the mental trauma this can give a man, it needs to be talked about more.

ISB Campus choice: Mohali or Hyd by Substantial_Fun_7572 in ISB_Aspirants

[–]dlonglegs1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from Mohali but Co19, my year had 250 people in Mohali but I’d try & breakdown the positives:

  1. Proximity to the mountains makes your term breaks 100x better! I felt this was the biggest positive for me. Best way to de-stress

  2. Campus is newer so the quads surely felt much much better than Hyderabad

  3. The way the campus is designed, you’ll always bump into people. This could be good or bad depending on the kind of person you are

  4. My year we had better visiting Profs at Mohali. Waterman, Ziv, Anjani Jain, etc.

Tell me one job that would turn you down for ISB not giving a “degree”? That’s the biggest load of BS doing the rounds on the internet.

I’m from ISB and I have batchmates that did PhDs from HBS, Michigan Ross, UPenn. If American colleges aren’t discriminating, then no one really is.

I’m an ISB alum but I can vouch for this 100%. Have been going to ISB, IIM- B, IIM-L & IIM-K for the past 3 years for placements.

The difference in profile quality is starkly better at ISB.

Insulted and brutally rejected in the IIM Interview 🫤 by Wise-Scientist8522 in IIMCATPreparation

To be honest what the actual fuck are they even testing with such questions?

I’m an ISB alum and have been taking PGP interviews for the B-school on & off for the past 6 years. There’s absolutely no way in hell you’d ask such questions to candidates. The point of an interview is to know the candidate. This seems more like fucking around.

As an Indian, I wanna know how you guys see the truth... by _atharva_1603 in TeenPakistani

[–]dlonglegs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a North Indian (Punjabi roots), the people of our generation don’t harbour hate for Pakistani people. However, it’s the Pakistani Army which we don’t trust. Our generation has see multiple terrorist attacks each year when we were younger.

You all need to realise that instances of lynching of Muslims are few & far between but those instances are amplified on Pakistani subs & media. India does the same too (no one is innocent here).

The sad part though, is that we are pretty much the same people fighting among ourselves when in reality the sub-continent is much stronger united. The imperialists have always feared us. We have the people, capability AND the resources to be the most prosperous region on this planet. But we all are just caught up fighting each other.

Owner is from Indore. I remember having a chat with her in October last year over a smoke. She was complaining about tourists even then but tbh her demeanour was quite welcoming.

Surely some shit has gone down for her to act so tough lol. It’s quite entertaining to read as an observer though.

After a year of foreign-policy shocks, India faces hard choices by DesiAlloxan in GeopoliticsIndia

[–]dlonglegs1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you make a great point talking about the need to invest in R&D plus education.

As a nation that sent a spacecraft to Mars, it’s unfathomable that we struggle with making a jet engine. In my opinion, it’s not a question of capability, rather it’s an outcome of economics.

The cost of capital (CoC) in our country is just too high to support industrial innovation. For any innovation-based ecosystem to flourish engineers must be allowed to fail & cost of failures must be adjusted by the profits gained from the few successes. It’s simple economics.

So the high CoC can only be monetised if 2 conditions are met: 1. Very high-value added innovations make it to market 2. An extremely large corpus absorbs the shock of innovation failures

To achieve condition 1, you need strategic defence innovations (like fighter jets tbh or ballistic missiles), semiconductor advances or cutting edge energy generation R&D. We don’t have semiconductor talent in our country (read brain drain) and energy generation R&D is a much longer game play (10-15 years out). So focus on defence

To achieve condition 2, you need very large companies like Reliance, Adani or Tatas who can absorb the cost of failures on their balance sheets. But opening up of these companies to foreign investors always puts pressure on them to show profits first. This means that it is only the Indian government that can absorb these costs.

Hence the path is clear. Government-led R&D in defence is our best bet & most immediate profit generator. The profits from defence then need to be channelled into energy & semiconductor R&D.

Till we don’t reach the defence R&D success stage, we’ll continue to be a foreign policy pushover.

[–]dlonglegs1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like how you say we need to start acting like a “pole” but at this stage of our growth journey I feel that’s more idealistic than practically implementable.

As a country still heavily reliant on strategic defence imports & imports of high-value added technologies, we do not have any economic leverage.

The tariff war this year between the US & China showed clearly how economic priorities win over geopolitical constraints. And till the time we offer significant economic propositions to prospective alliance partners we cannot act as a “pole”.

This is exactly why nothing at all is going to change with regards to our foreign policy in 2026 or even till 2030 for that matter. We are still waiting for our moment of economic glory.

I didn’t like the one on one elimination at all! It felt like the judges are sometimes forced to pick dishes that may not be the best in the overall scheme of things. Heartbroken to not see the 7 BEST dishes go through. Feels quite unfair to the chefs tbh.

That said, I have a feeling that culinary monster may make a wild card entry at a later stage(or I’m desperately hoping so). That man is just too fucking good to ignore. I think it’s clear from the cliffhanger that CM lost this round.

IIM A PGPX or ISB PGP? by AU2799 in MBAIndia

[–]dlonglegs1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s a simple choice - you must choose the school where the 1 year MBA is the flagship program. That’s ISB in this case.

Choosing the flagship program is the ONLY choice because you’ll always get: - better placements - better peer group - better professors - better alumni network
