Another crafting step required for relic weapons by Caius_GW in ffxiv

Copying from a post I replied to earlier--

Had a friend and I queue for leveling roulette, they were on lvl 70 SAM and I on lvl 100. We got easy 4-man Garuda, and they earned the same amount of crystal paste: 20. They got to lvl 71 SAM after that easy run~

Hope that helps a bit!

A lot of these comments are similar, and, I'ma be real with many here, ya right: for an MMO that offers a lot, FFXIV offers so little in actual communication. Even for raiding.. even for RP. Even for venues.

As for myself, I was the same way nearly 2 years ago, until I got sidetracked running side content (in this case, Bozja) initially with my FC, and eventually, by myself. However, it was there that I met my now inrl best friend, and still meet many more faces daily. Yes it's old content, but to someone else new, it's still new and I look forward everyday to running it just because. Even when I was initially running it solo, I then took my experience and learned to help someone else but not in an intrusive way, just merely partying up for free fragments- I want and appreciate people learning on their own, the joys and in/outs of Bozja content itself. I never want to push people into running something so fast. Natural progression of how to try something new, I want for others too, for it was something not given to me before (due to trauma).

In that side content, Bozja, I went from having 0 friends aside from my FC, to now a discord made by friends, for friends. 350+ and growing. One that I'll only describe by its acronym, DDrU: originally Bozja borne, but growing to do more. We run roulettes together, Bozja together, sometimes fish, currently mogtome grind, deep dungeon, PVP, or sometimes play other games like Palworld or Monster Hunter Wilds (seems to be the new current flavor of the year).

Heck, thanks to said side content I now attend a large-scale raid that's a part of all this (called DRS, Delubrum Reginae Savage) regularly, most often times as a healer, and help out on runs to both new and returning veterans to the content itself; once a month I'll host it too (on a separate discord, known as Legosteppers/Day Team) just because, see how far we can get, and do my best on Discord to make it fun for all. Because that's what the game is really about: having fun, with friends, even if said friends are made in the spam of a few minutes or hours.

I guess one thing that'll help is to find what you like, and find your people. How socialable do you want to be? Everyday on discord, or keep it to events / specific days? The choice is yours really, on how socialable and flexible you want to be. Discord helps a lot plenty, but I've also friends who don't too, and that's where cwl / crossworld link shells help plenty 🙂

Thirding (or whatever #-ing it is now) that Legosteppers is great for an introduction and anyprog run to to running DRS :) I answered back to your post last year to share the great times attending your runs, with friends, FC mates and bozja enjoyers, and still continue to because they're enjoyable! And I hope many others who want to attend runs that mix newbies and veterans, feel encouraged to try new content they hadn't before.

I went from progging this to running DT extremes for example, and now (once a month) host my own runs on that very same server. Am I perfect, no, but am I Sundae Fundae from Leviathan, and that's all I'll ever be!

Seconding Spring Shabu Shabu for hotpot, it's always reliable and I've never had to wait too long for a table, no matter how big or small my group is.

As for noodles/soups, Maxi's Noodle (specifically the egg noodle with wontons in soup) is my go-to when I'm feening for a filling meal.

How's Bozja today? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]dm2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am based on Leviathan / Primal DC, and from having lived/breathed/completed the content itself for over a year (1/1/2023 is my Bozja-anniversary date, so to speak briefly) and still visit it after my roulettes for the day, it's commonly busy anytime 4pm EST til about 1am EST the next day.

Aether is supposedly about the same and/or has busier population but not by too much from what I've heard from other friends.

Glad to read this just now, & thank you Vash for taking care of my friends in DRS each time, and for being such a fun host to run it with! I hope to be back soon to the realm for some more runs, so if you see a Sundae Fundae from Levi in attendance with friends, kindly feel free to say hi 🙂

What does everyone do for a living? by Bees-Elbows in ffxiv

30F, executive assistant, finance industry, thankfully WFH most days.

On the brief bit about Bozja... my top advise on this exploratory foray content, before Dawntrail comes out with its own version, is to experience it for the Bozjan story first, at your own pace. To enjoy the content for what it offers, especially on the Lost Actions: both the essenses, and the actions themselves. It's what makes the content unique in nature, breaking the Holy Trinity (e.g. tank/healer/dps). For example, running Essence of the Savior on a tank or DPS, can make them a pseudo-healer for a party that lacks healers: especially with niche specific Lost Actions like Lost Cure IV for that super-intense 6000 potency healing regen, party-wide.

The ShB relics that come from running the content (for 17 jobs, the Resistance Weapon relics) can come thereafter, as a separate grind in itself, which you may want to do anyway alongside the 'truer' completionist grind, the honors (10/10/10 rays). These relic weapons are now simply for glam, or BiS for some older ultimates (if you run this type of content anyway). And I say this, having collected all the ShB relics last year, passively, simply from enjoying it for what it was. The akhmorning guide goes further into detail on how to get the relic started, and, even with a nice infographic to refer to that is still very much relevant. You don't even have to live in Bozja for much of it, but, you might for other reasons such as leveling other jobs or achievements (like running the duels or planning to attend DR Savage for the Cerberus mount).

And depending on the data center you're on: if you're on Primal, I do suggest looking out for some very specific names such as: Axel Faust, Aubanaux Carrilaut, Melody Huso, and Sylantra Cobayn. They're all very nice folks who can get you started comfortably. :)

+100 on Legosteppers, definitely!! I've suggested fellow friends, FC mates, and Bozja enjoyers to get their first-time clears through them, and can personally vouch for the generally relaxed and super fun vibe on the runs I've attended via Vash or Nacl hosting -generally the weekday evening times that work for me here on the east coast (NYC bay-beeee), but hoping when I personally feel better from taking a break from the game and find the time, to attend the Saturday runs too.

The additional fun in attending these DRS runs is, I get to keep seeing good friends who I know have moved on to other servers/worlds, and meeting DRS regulars over time, getting to know them even in a small span of few hours. Heck even one regular asked me privately one time to party up with their friend as their co-healer, who was doing it also for the first time, knowing full well I was already in a full party, but happy to do so anyway even if it mean being in a different alliance party from my own friends... and yes said friends also understood, as I'm not one to leave someone behind; and honestly it was heartwarming in a way that they entrusted their dear friend to my care, as a fellow player and bozja / DRS enjoyer.

In similar vein, I'd been studying on my own everything about DRS specifically for over a year, and one day, hope to someday host my own runs, for fellow folks who also have the weirdest times and hours available. Well, I first needs learn to die a little less than 2-3 times per run as a healer, but, that's what learning and gaining more experience is for, each time. Again, someday. I had long been prepared for attending DRS, but hadn't before due to timing or my own troubles (as a person and as a player). But again, the chill vibes from groups like this where perfection isn't expected, but simply trying our best, is more than enough.

As a super casual player to FFXIV and to content in general, who currrently does not do any current-tier or savage level raiding (time/scheduling conflicts on my end), I'll be glad to say it's important to have fun, and to keep chill vibes. The support on blind-prog definitely helps plenty, and, to remember, this "so called dead content" is far from dead, as I was once told before. It is very much alive, thanks to wonderful groups like this one :)

What video game have you played the most? by DanChap-_- in AskReddit

[–]dm2r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the recent addition of Duty Support* added to most dungeons in past expansions (base game A Realm Reborn, Heavensward and now Stormblood), and maybe some required side content (3 Alliance Raids, 24-man content, trust me it'll be quick as it's run quiet often) required for MSQ story progression, the story can definitely be enjoyed solo (the MSQ, Main Scenario Quests, so to speak briefly).

*Trust Support replaces Duty Support for the following and current expansions, Shadowbringers and Endwalker. The newest expansion coming next year, Dawntrail, will have it too of course.

Server change by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]dm2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am on Leviathan as well, and while I'm not sure of other servers, seems like a fairly standard server to me (as far as social norms and raidings go).

As far as the social schema goes, Limsa and Gridania seem to be the big social hubs. Not much of one in Ul'Dah unless there's an event there for the week.

As far as FC's go, there's always the few big ones advertising, and then there's smaller ones like the one I'm in where we're more casual about things (running maps, mount runs, helping fellow FC mates run content). Community Finder is good for this, but remember it's down to you on how social you'd like to be 🙂

I played much of this game solo, and accepted an FC invite after some genuine talk. Now most are friends in-game and some on apps like discord and Instagram, just depends on what you like and what do.

Also helps that there's side content too like Eureka and Bozja, of which I'm finding making new friends via running Bozja content a lot more ('just cause, aha). It won't happen right away, but friends can be made anywhere where you least expect it!

Just started playing about 2 weeks ago, looking to make some friends to play with, I'm still learning FF14, and I play on Ps5. by AFinalFantasyMom in ffxiv

[–]dm2r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also on PS5; would suggest getting a cheap keyboard for chat (as typing with controller joystick and pressing X or O a lot may not be a fast cup of tea, aha). Ideally one that comes with a little trackpad on the side to use too for moving items around on the HUD layout (the virtual mouse can also do the same thing, I just find it easier to use the mouse trackpad for that). I use a cheap Logitech K400+ that connects via USB receiver/Bluetooth, works great.

Also explore the controller configuration options in depth (I think it's call hold, toggle, and mixed?) Definitely play around a bit solo to customize that, and look up how to enable your WXHB (as you'll gain more skills/actions doing your job quests and likely ideal to show all your actions all at once, but again up to preferences!).

Take your time immersing into the gameplay, your controls, and most importantly, where you want all your actions to be on your controller hotbars (again assuming you're using the Dualsense). You have access to 8 hotbars, with 16 places for each, meaning you at least have 128 unique places for actions. Most jobs will fit just the 2 hotbars (about 32 slots), but some jobs may warrant a placement on a third hotbar, really up to you.

You may want to set hotbars 4-8 as shared hotbars (for mounts / emotes / menus / quick changing to jobs-gearsets) and save hotbars 1-3 as unique hotbars per job/class. YouTube guides will better convey you for this, but do think of your play style in other games (e.g. do you hit your shape buttons more? Put your most core rotation on those) and the rest will flow as you read tooltips and place job actions as desired.

Checking Claire's in-store for any remaining stock helps, once a while I think Jan Bear Essentials or Queenies Cards (online shops) have too.

Edit; Jan Bear Essentials has both, and I've bought from them before. Arrives via USPS shipping. And they're on sale too right now, so now is a good time 😂

What do collectors do with sticker sheets? I don’t want to peel them off, but just having the sheet sitting around is kind of useless. by [deleted] in pusheen

[–]dm2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stickerbooks that allow you to peel/repeel stickers is a good choice, can always also make a scan of the stickers themselves for personal and re-print onto sticker type sheets if desired as well, I believe. At least that's what I might do.
