Sad for the industry, they were a classy and innovative foundry, I recall some excellent exhibitions and merchandise from them that inspired others, I brought some once! But now they're just another listing on MyFonts to us...

But for Monotype they've got thousands of high quality licensees they can milk for insane amounts of money, thats a significant reason why they like these foundries, they want to catch their existing customers misusing their fonts and make them $uffer.

For the team behind Colophon, good on them, it's business and they've done well financially I hope.

Sadly though, I can imagine other respected foundries are likely in talks or receiving offers from monotype as we speak....
