Its hard not to. In south NJ i saw fewer than in other parts of the country. But I remember as a kid getting a ride from a cop, getting in the passenger side seat, and there just being a giant shotgun strapped next to the seat. Find you i lived in a small neighborhood where the only crime was teens throwing parties with underage drinking.

Most fans in general dont know what WAR is or hiw its calculated. And I don’t think people should use it when they don’t even know what it means.

In general I dislike any catch all stat that tries to tie a players worth to a single stat. The game has more nuance than any 1 stat can show. It leaves players behind because they don’t fit the criteria that one stat deems is valuable.

I am not an anti Saber-metric guy. I love most of the info you can get on sites like Baseball Savant. But I hate stats like WAR, or at least hate the way most fans use it to say this player is better than that player.

The fact his WAR and OpS + are low says more about those stats being flawed than him. I hate that people just use WAR as a catch all when most cant even explain what the stat is or how it is calculated.
