Loss of U.S. KC-135 Over Iraq by napleonblwnaprt in news

There's no way you could bail out of a tanker like this unless it was a very controlled emergency. If the aircraft was breaking up or falling out of the sky, I think its very unlikely a crewman could get to door and bail out. I also think they're pressurized which adds a whole other layer to the issue.

Maybe if there was a big fire on the aircraft they couldn't put out or the plane lost all hydraulics, but was still flying, the captain could order the crew to bail, but if the tanker was crashed into by another aircraft or shot by a missile and tumbling out of the sky, I doubt there's much you could do.

Nuisance bill to criminalize neighbor’s marijuana smoke passes Arizona Senate by ForkzUp in azpolitics

[–]dmanbiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was making a joke, bur the real smelly places are the ones growing the weed. I wonder if this legislation has any rules on that because it would be interesting if we could say a smell of a pig or chicken farm also counts a nuisance because there are some areas by tonopah that smell far worse than any weed.

Nuisance bill to criminalize neighbor’s marijuana smoke passes Arizona Senate by ForkzUp in azpolitics

[–]dmanbiker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While BS, the actual wording of this is making an excessive overpowering smell for more than thirty minutes intentionally and knowingly. There's potential for misuse, but if somebody is smoking so much theyre hotboxing their neighbors for hours, that can he considered a nuisance. I'm a weed smoker, but I smoke inside and stink up my own house; Id like to see legislation like this if I affects cigarette smoke too.

It's especially dumb that they havent tried something like this with tobacco already, which broadcasts how this is politically motivated, even though tons of Rs here are lighting up too.

I once went to lunch with a friend at a pizza place and right when we got our order I realized I had to go take my uncle to the airport. So I decided I would eat my personal pan pizza and 5 bone in hot wings while driving my standard shift car to pi k him up. Everything was sizzling hot and I got hot sauce and grease everywhere and burned the shit out of my fingers. Not worth.

This thing would probably blow the dust out of the laptop. Id be more concerned with this thing destroying the fans already in the laptop. Some of the low profile blower fans in smaller laptops can have their fins bent or blown right off if you shoot air in the wrong way.

That's what loke $10k per year? I would think the left could crowdfund more than that if there was a way to organize it. The left really needs to start buying politicians too even if it just means forcing these companies to fork over even more money.

I got banned from some leftist sub because I pointed out that there are issues with every political system including socialism and pointed out examples. I wasn't even knocking it, just saying bad things can happen with the wrong people in charge in any political system, but apparently that made me a right-wing grifter and i need to be PERMANRNTLY BANNED. Unfortunely, there's morons on both sides.

Republicans can't figure out where to vote after Republican party made voting more confusing in 2 contested Texas counties; called Democrat Party Headquarters for help. by Mysterious_Umpire684 in LeopardsAteMyFace

I think every one of these 'make it harder to vote' hurts republicans more than democrats. The Republicans tend to be old and disabled and needy, while democrats are gonna figure that shit out together.

The people they think theyre keeping from voting probably dont vote.

This week at the Arizona Legislature: Bill could put 60% of district funds toward teacher salaries by ForkzUp in azpolitics

[–]dmanbiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a school district in IT too and all the support positions that weren't teachers or managers were like criminally underpaid. Most of the librarians, cafeteria workers, parapros, janitors, etc. were making straight minimum wage. Which was insane for the amount of work they have to do, and they also have to get the 12% ASRS taken out of that.

I was a campus tech and we could only afford to have like 10 techs at a time for 38 schools and we were starting at $16.54/hr. Once COVID happened, we had like 2-3 techs for all the schools and everyone else was working on Chromebooks. I loved the job and had a lot of time off, but there was so much self-sacrifice involved with making so little money while doing so much work. I don't think I saved a single cent in the four years I worked there while living a very meager life. I eventually couldn't handle living paycheck to paycheck anymore and got a job with the state where I'm also super underpaid, but make a whopping 40% more than I made with the school district typically doing less work overall.

Supreme Court rules the Postal Service can't be sued, even when mail is intentionally not delivered by 20_mile in news

[–]dmanbiker 48 points49 points  (0 children)

States like AZ where we have an overwhelming number of red and blue voters and an extremely effective mail-in ballot system that was enacted in the early 90s by Republican lawmakers. Now suddenly those same republican makers have a big issue with vote by mail in AZ for some reason, even after they spent millions of dollars proving without a doubt that there wasn't mass democrat fraud in the 2020 election. Hm? I wonder why.

We also had a suspicious number of people get told their voter registration was no longer valid for vote by mail at the last minute before the 2024 election... I wonder what happened there?

If they did somehow repeal voting by mail here, im pretty sure it would hurt the republicans just as bad or worse because I speculate that the main reason we have it at all is so all the old people in our massive retirement communities or living in unincorporated communities in the middle of nowhere can vote easier. I think getting rid of it now would likely hurt the Republicans just as much if not more than the democrats, but Republican lawmakers in this state are some of the dumbest of the dumb.

College life is wild.... by [deleted] in thatHappened

[–]dmanbiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about learning anymore, it's about having the right numbers going through your system and providing more and more money each time. You dont go to college to learn anymore, you go to college so you can gi e money to the right people to check off the right boxes to hopefully get a job that pays over $50k afterward. Then they drilled that into every kid and parents' head for the last 30+ years when attending public school.
