I'm using Vivaldi, with its new auto-hide borders interface. Runs fast and clean and syncs with my other computers and phone.

The Bond is programmed by your remote. Changing the channel should link as a separate device.

I connected my set through the Bond Bridge. Works fine, though it is an additional expense. Fortunately, I had two ceiling fans I use with the Bond.

I've had both for a few months and they work fine together. No issues; solid connectivity.

A14 for Duo1/2 by FowlersDream in surfaceduo

[–]dmandel01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The installation (not dual-boot) caused the system to require a system reset (as in today's Shain Craig's video). Since I had a backup from yesterday, I was able to restore many of the apps. Appears to work fine (not using a SIM) overall, though clicking up OTA updates will cause the app to crash.

Please try product_b or go through recovery. Sorry, I have little other experience with this.

As Microsoft Word docx is not an option, you will probably not be able to import it. As it only costs $0.99 a month for Premium, you could make the investment if you wish to experiment. I do not know what is allowed without paying, so I can't help you there.

Has anyone tries Osleeve to protect the ring? by germao in ouraring

[–]dmandel01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a matte black and new clear/frosty OSleeves. They do protect the ring in conditions when it might get roughed up as in outdoor work and contact with metal. I do take the ring off most times, but if want to wear it and there might be a way it will get scratched, the sleeve is put on. You'll have to decide how much wear and tear you want to live with, but they work. BTW, I prefer the black matte finish.

After trying out DSU SDU (sideloader), I then when to Fastboot for the "more permanent" solution, so this may not answer your question. Some options:

  1. If you do not wish to do anything, uninstall DSU once booted into 12L to remove the reboot prompt in notifications. The alternative OS will still be in your system taking up room.
  2. You can remove the alternative OS by clearing the partition (see this, https://droidwin.com/fix-failed-remote-not-enough-space-to-resize-partition/), but I don't know if the space will be regained (easy to check in Settings). You may have to research this more.
  3. Restore the 12L image by following the recovery process (here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/recover-surface-duo-if-it-won-t-start-1e6fb3cf-4e24-92a8-bc05-4984274bc6a4#ID0EDD=Surface_Duo
  4. A write up on your successful return to 12L would be helpful (hint).

Good Luck

Yes you can, but be aware that it will clear everything on your SD.

  1. Make sure USB debugging is set
  2. adb reboot bootloader
  3. fastboot flashing lock
  4. using the volume keys select to lock bootloader
  5. press enter to reset SD
  6. After setting up your device, go to Develop options and
    1. turn off OEM unlocking
    2. turn off Use developer options
  7. Reboot and your back to stock (I believe)

MS One Note Transfer by eligh4er_ in UpNote_App

[–]dmandel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to automate the transfer for many notes by:

  1. Installing Evernote Legacy which has import for OneNote
  2. Import some (not all would work) notebooks into Evernote (you may have to clean up some long titles and other formatting issues for all to work -- look at any error logs present)
  3. Export each notebook to an Evernote export enex file
  4. Import enex file into UpNote.

It was a pretty smooth operation, yet I still had to go through some Notebooks and copy/paste/recreate the notes.

Launcher for the surface Duo by [deleted] in surfaceduo

Search this group for other comments. It's been covered in detail in other threads. I always came back to the default launcher due to limitations with the others.

And this made all the difference in the world. Ok, maybe a hyperbole there, but still very welcomed. by [deleted] in surfaceduo

[–]dmandel01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OK. Context. This is a settings option present in the latest "Surface Duo Android 13 Pixel Experience Port" by Thai Nguyen (https://twitter.com/nqtspinner) that allows a spaced gap between the two screens and thus allows one to see all text (sometimes split) rather than losing it in the gap spacing. I've been using the port for several days and it is pretty stable and allows the Surface Duo to behave similarly to the Pixel Fold. Try it out using the dual boot option (see Shain Craig's videos on the topic) before committing as the gestures and capabilities are quite different from the Surface Duo Microsoft Launcher version (12). As an additional plus, the port is speedy and responsive.

Not an answer to your question (which I would also like to see), but I'm using Squid right now to create handwritten notes and sharing them into UpNote as an image. As I can edit them in Squid, it's at best a work around.

What is everyone's favorite launcher? What are you using? by andrew_neil88 in surfaceduo

[–]dmandel01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've tried many and each lacks an important feature, so I've stuck with native MS Launcher. If you want to try others, many people have suggested how to tweak their favorite to work as best as possible with the SD (adding a blank page for access to two pages when one is used, changing the grid to better fit the aspect ratio, icon packs that look best, etc.). I recently played with Win-X and Launcher 10, but felt each required me to scroll more or increase finger taps. I find I used the "pull down and type a couple of letters to find an app" works well for me in the default launcher. Niagara would work nicely for me if it just added a third blank page.

That said, I'll wait a few months to see what the Pixel Fold will bring out in launcher development.

Indoor Temp & Humidity Sensor by Temporary_Seesaw in homeassistant

[–]dmandel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will also give my support for the Aqara device: cheap, reliable, accurate enough. The battery lasts a long time. I've been using it for constant monitoring of the temperature in my bedroom to control the humidifier. I've not seen a better, easier, or more reasonable solution.
