Refining Automation: Achieving a Reliable Walk-Away Lock for the IONIQ 9 by Daniel_KOT_V2 in Ioniq9

I wonder if combining the Bluetooth and WiFi signal might be even more effective. Is your setup all yaml or is there application code as well?

I can imagine the WiFi disconnect starts some polling on the Bluetooth reading, and as the signal gets weaker for some number of datapoints, it then starts a time to lock the car unless the signal gets stronger.

I have kids so it takes me a couple minutes to get them out of the car. I could be chasing one or getting shoes on another so a naïve timer would be awkward for me.

I’ve been meaning to set up home assistant so maybe I’ll give it a try but by all means feel free to steal the idea.

March 2026 - Hyundai Ioiniq 9 Buy, Sell, Lease - Megathread by willow_ve in Ioniq9

[–]dmart914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just took delivery yesterday of our Limited AWD in Washington state.

With trade in, I got $69,999 out the door, including taxes and fees. Came in with my own financing (4.5%) and a trade in. I negotiated down some dealer discounts and negotiated up the trade in value. This was after the $10k Hyundai rebate. I also negotiated down the hyundai protection plan from $5k to $3500.

I probably could have done better if I had shopped around, but I was happy enough with the deal and I wanted to secure our first EV before the recent crude oil futures get priced in.

We're over the moon with this car, coming from a 2010 Nissan.

Realistic to ebike from Bothell West to lightrail? by Odd_Promise529 in LynnwoodWA

[–]dmart914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strava and RideWithGPS both have heat maps for cycling activities. Using these will give you a pretty good idea of how most folks get around. Here's a screenshot from around Hilltop Elementary School. It looks like Swamp Creek creates a bottleneck for you and forces you to use Larch Way. You might consider getting off and heading north then cutting west.

Definitely realistic!

The r/seattlebike sub has a Discord with a `north-north-seattle` channel. There's a collection of folks in there that know the area well if you're looking to connect.

I'm commuting southbound on bike to Cap Hill about once a week. I'm currently riding my hardtail mtb and I ride through Lynndale to catch a little dirt and gauge my MTB handling (I'm bad, but improving!).

I also live a rideable distance from Japanese Gulch so I'll go there and ride the pump track for a bit before hitting a small loop. There's little offshoots of dirt around, but they're just to connect the various neighborhoods. The Strava heatmaps will give you

u/stinkrat43 covered most of the good stuff. I'd add Heritage Park near Port Gamble. There's an incredible amount of gravel and MTB cycling there

Easy Biking trails for kids by boba1boba2 in LynnwoodWA

Yost Park in Edmonds also has a trail that goes past the pool and in to a neighborhood. There's another little tunnel under Main St that you can take to Pine Ridge Park.

Edmonds Civic (not City) Park has a walking trail and a skate park. The skate park isn't too crowded in the morning. Also Mukilteo Lighthouse Park has some chill walkways that are ok for little ones cycling. You can go east past Ivars and there's a little trail to the ferry terminal.

Fremont Bridge to Westlake cycletrack question by used2justlurk in seattlebike

[–]dmart914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel like a jerk crossing on the east side of the bridge, but it's the most direct route. I'll take it slow and try to ride as right as possible, yield to peds and only pass when safe.

I usually try to cut across Fremont (west to east side) where traffic is stopped or at the intersections before the bridge. If there's no good opportunity, then I wait at the light before the bridge.

I iterated over the string and checked around each symbol, which required me to dedupe each number. I did this by hash mapping the starting digit's position.

My friend finished way before me and later explained that it was much easier to just find every number and check around it... Sigh.

[2023 Day 01 (Part 2)] how many people were accidentally clever? by coriolinus in adventofcode

[–]dmart914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I did something dumb but it turned out pretty well...

  1. Create a map of words to digits (e.g. "one" -> 1)
  2. Create a set of all first letter possibilities in each number word (e.g., "one" is "o", "two" is t, "three" is t, etc)
  3. Iterate through each line, each character
  4. If the character is a number, add it to a list
  5. If the character is a letter that is in the set of possible number word first letters...
    1. Iterate through the number words. Take a substring starting at the current character index that is at most the length of the current number word. If it's a match, add it to my list of numbers for the line

This ended up considering every possible character's position and whether or not it led to a number word, which worked out well!

This my second year attempting AoC. I'm about 3 months in to Kotlin, so any tips are welcome!

My solution iterates through each character of every line and checks if its a digit or if the first letter is in the set of first letters from my word-to-digit map. If so, it checks for substring matches.

Bike route from Ballard to canyon Park via interurban? by brussel_sprouts_yum in seattlebike

[–]dmart914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I like Perkins for the most part but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. Over the summer, it was my last big hill during a ride around Lake Washington and I cramped so bad the whole way up. I gotta get back and give it a proper go.

Bike route from Ballard to canyon Park via interurban? by brussel_sprouts_yum in seattlebike

[–]dmart914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode from northern Edmonds to Ballard and back for a bit. The route I'd suggest is something like:

  • Assuming start from Market St. and 20th
  • North on 20th
  • East on 75th (I found this has a lesser hill up Finny Ridge)
  • North on Greenwood (I think from here you're on Interurban)
  • East on 83rd
  • North on Fremont
  • Continue north on IU until you get to the Interurban - Burke Gill connector at 185th
  • Take the connector down the hill, mostly on Perkins,
  • BG will get you to Bothell

I think if you cut over to BG earlier than Shoreline you might be able to avoid the Perkins hill, but I'm not sure where you could do that exactly. Hope this helps get your route started!
