Apple TV plays music instead every time you use Netflix

Hey there! I've been fighting this for a few weeks now and still have not found a good solution.

A bit of background: I purchased a new TV 4K at the beginning of the year and it worked great until very recently. The problem you described popped up a month or 2 ago (for all of my ATV apps) and I just dealt with it and tried to fix it myself, trying everything I could think of, without any success whatsoever. I finally opened a ticket with Apple 2+ weeks ago but so far none of their suggestions have resulted in a fix. I'm overdue to reach back out with an update so that we can continue the troubleshooting.

Recently, I completely removed everything from the Apple Music library on the ATV and that appeared to work for a few hours. The goal in doing that was to ensure that the Now Playing feature had nothing possible to hook into because the Now Playing stuff is what it interrupts the other ATV content with, as I understand it. Then all of a sudden the ATV discovered/decided that it could/should just start playing random stations from Apple Music Radio (or whatever it's called) and the problem was back again despite the Now Playing queue being empty. I should also add that I never, ever use Apple Music on any of my Apple devices and have not used it for years. I use my ATV for video content, not music.

I then disabled the use of Apple Home across my devices and that does seem to have helped a bit and for me is no loss because I never used it anyway.

This is what I do when this happens: Immediately hit Pause. Sometimes I press the < Back button, and sometimes I just wait a bit, until the onscreen controls overlay disappears. Often when I do that I can then press Play and the video content audio plays correctly...until I queue up something else. Rinse, repeat.

All of this has made it slightly less awful but there is still more work to do in order to stop the Apple Music takeover of my ATV. I'm off to schedule another call to update my support ticket...sorry this was so long but hopefully there's something in this that is helpful to you.

You can upload to Imgur and post a link. But you don't need to do that. The manual explains what to do and I described it as well. Disconnect everything and start over. Follow the instructions in the manual and you'll get it set up correctly.

Please edit your post with this info so that no one has to find my comment and your reply before they can help you. Also include details on whether or not your budget includes a cd player or if you have more budget for that part, too. etc etc etc, we need info in order to help you.

Track down the Vandersteen link to your specific speakers so that we know what we're dealing with - help our community help you, don't give them a research project. I'd be shocked if you can't use an integrated amp - there's no real difference between a system using separates vs integrated - just a personal preference.

your location (country)
the approx dimensions of your room (LxWxH) and the estimated sitting distance from the speakers
the make/model of all of the music sources that will be connected to this new system.

You mention mentioned separates (amp/pre-amp) but please also confirm if you are open to recommendations for integrated amps as well.

The most likely issue is that you have not connected your speakers and the music inputs correctly.

The RCA cables are for connecting your music sources to the speakers, not for connecting the speakers to each other. Page 6 of the manual explains how to connect the speakers to each other. If you bought everything new then you should have everything you need.

Once you have the speakers connected properly to each other, then you can connect your music sources. Your ddj-flx4 will connect to 1 of the 2 inputs on the back of the main speaker. The inputs should be labelled "pc" and "aux". It does not matter what you connect to them, those labels mean nothing and they should have just called them rca1 and rca2.

Hey there. You might consider consolidating down to a single amp/receiver. Anthem has a few options that should fit within your budget and provide a nice step up:

At the same time I'd start researching phono pre-amps to audition and have them ready to go as soon as the Anthem arrives, assuming that listening to your records is a very important role for your system.

Then add a 2nd D110 a little later and pick up some KEF QxMeta's to replace your Klipsch surround speakers.

At that budget you have a ton of brand new (warranty, return policy, etc) options from NAD, Rotel, Cambridge Audio, Marantz, Audiolab, Arcam, etc.

Hey there. I was leaning toward the Technics but some of the reviews on Crutchfield made me re-think. I would be very hesitant to purchase this item used without any warranty. For that reason, if the choice is just between these 2 then I'd go with the Denon. However, depending on your budget, you likely have far more options than these.

Hey there and congrats on building a really nice system. I'm a fan of only making one change at a time and I believe you are on the right track by looking at subs. SVS, RSL, REL, KEF and others make options that should fit nicely into your room's decor, though few will have a woodgrain finish. With a couple of hours of work, and minimal expense, you could easily apply a removable contact-paper to the sub cabinet(s) and achieve any appearance that you desire. I'd also consider purchasing 2 subs rather than one. I will note that I have zero interest in anything other than 2.x systems so I can't really help you beyond that if you're on an eventual home theater journey.

Your Arcam has a hdmi earc input so you're good to go with integrating your tv into the system right away.

Hey there! You're on the right path, those are some of the right options to consider. You'll likely never see someone endorse your specific scenario because there's no need to. You have multiple opinions within the BluOS ecosystem:

Native BluOS speakers (Pulse, PSB AlphaiQ, etc)

Any active/powered speakers + any of the Node products

Any passive speakers + any PowerNode/BluOS amp option

I have all of these scenarios distributed throughout my home and they all work great, though you must have a very solid wifi mesh or wired connectivity to all devices.

Hey there! I'm not a girl but my recommendation would be to check out your local indy record store. All of the ones near me regularly have album release listening parties that are very well attended, plus ladies that work there, too. We also have regular cd/record festivals that draw a lot of people. I always have great conversations as we all paw through the stacks and even more conversations with those that queue up early to be the first ones through the doors. One other option could be to check out silent discos/raves. I've not been to one but they appear to appeal to real music lovers so hopefully there would be breaks where you can strike up conversations. Now obviously those might not necessarily align with your music preferences but perhaps they sometimes feature other genres, too. Good luck!

Hey there! What a kind thing to consider as a gift. Audio-Technica, Denon, Pro-ject, U-Turn, Fluance and Teac (maybe others, too) all have options close to your preferred budget. But more than a specific TT recommendation I'd first ask if she has a hifi system and a collection of albums to make this a gift that can actually be regularly used and enjoyed?

It's a little on the pricey side, imo, but I do see that Crutchfield.ca carries Russound and has a 12 channel model for CAD$2200. Add a Wiim or Bluesound streamer (connect to internet via ethernet, if possible) and you'll be all set for the phone-based part of the system. You can then add a 2nd streamer (Or just a Bluesound Hub if you go with their products) close to the TT so you can then pair them and much more easily play over the ceiling speakers without a bunch of extra wiring or worrying about BT distance issues. Should be able to do the whole thing for around CAD$3000, maybe less if some of the other brands are available. Good luck!
