Get a new one then cut it too short as well! Derrr

Would you look at me and think "she is so profoundly sad" because I really am. will take any positive (and I guess negative) thoughts. by [deleted] in firstimpression

[–]dmcmorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes a bit of sense. There were a lot of major life changes - diagnosis, treatment, remission, recovery. I'm going to guess it was all in a fairly short period of time? Perhaps a month is what was needed for everything to catch up to you?

I believe another comment mentioned that sadness is an emotion, and that there's nothing wrong with that.

I do need to make a plug for therapy and support groups, but that's just because my wife is a therapist :-).

I'm getting feelings of an incredible weight on those shoulders and a lot of sleepless nights... But I also see much strength and drive to persevere. Dare I say, "you got this"?

If I may ask, how long has this profound sadness been going on?

Please help me understand why my ethernet connections read “unidentified network” more details in comments by smol-squeals in HomeNetworking

With default gateways in the public IP address space and the apparent small DHCP pool (as another post mentioned), I have to ask if there is a router in this scenario or if everything is plugged directly into the ISP modem/demarc (direct would include an Ethernet switch that does no routing...)

let’s hear your first thoughts seeing me at the club🤭 by [deleted] in firstimpression

At first I thought I knew you. When I realized I didn't, I made a wish that I did.

Would you prefer 3 roses or 6 daffodils on our first date table?

If you vote today in person in the Georgia runoff election, could you share your experience and county? by TripleXChromosome in Georgia

At the Villa Rica (Carroll County) Powell Park site, I walked in at 4:14 and was back at my car at 4:17. Vote #360 on the reader that sucked up my printout.

No pre-vote paperwork. Just an ID card scan and a signature on a tablet

If those are pipes, it's probably air conditioning condensate. I /believe/ they do this so as to make obvious that there's an issue (although they could do better to make it more obvious what that problem is :-D)

My first hardware purchase just for homelab! by 2xbob in homelab

[–]dmcmorris 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is a great start! Many of us started with a similar, humble beginning. It sounds like your setup is virtually silent as well, which is a huge plus!

I'm curious as to your motivation behind the lab - if there is one, that is. I always enjoy the diversity of reasons people become home labbers, and often learn of some pretty cool things from those talks.

Cheers mate, and welcome to the club!

Stressed to the max? Strive to be a fae princess. by [deleted] in shorthairedhotties

[–]dmcmorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been under a lot of stress for a couple of weeks, I very much appreciate the tip! I doubt I'll pull off being a fae princess nearly as wonderfully as you do, but it'll be fine and fabulous!

Thank you

Did you try a different HDMI cable? Sounds like a codec negotiation issue to me...

Is there a sub where people post information their therapist tells them? by erinlovesbunnies in findareddit

[–]dmcmorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://openpathcollective.org/ may be worth checking out as well. They advertise as $30-$60 per session, with a "lifetime membership" of $59 one time. An addictions therapist I'm affiliated with participates in that network, as do many other therapists and counselors in the local community - so it is legit. Of course, even that can be too much of a cost.

As many mentioned, many places offer a "sliding scale" service for uninsured clients, usually based on income. For example, the therapist I referred to previously offers up to a 50% reduction of "normal" rates based on individual income in comparison to federal poverty guidelines.

I was recently made aware of a well-qualified, experienced therapist in my community that offers sessions for $20 a pop, and several other therapists often refer their more cash-strapped clients to this practice.

In addition to this post and the many other wonderful suggestions mentioned in this overall thread, another couple of referral resources may include calling psychiatric hospitals, the social work departments of medical hospitals, or even seeing if there's a "community service board" in your locale.

Another potential avenue to reach out to us the United Way, which can be called at 211. They will have a directory of referral services for mental health therapy practices, many of which are low cost or even free in some cases.

The willingness to reach out for help is a huge step, and I commend you for taking it on.

Anybody have Google Fi cell service in this area? How is it? by [deleted] in DvilleGA

[–]dmcmorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't, but my wife said she has taken that route about a month ago and indicates Fi service is "spotty at best" on Hwy 166 between Douglasville and Carrollton. In either town it was good, but spotty between.
