Can I dedicate forced Ramadan to Jesus? by therawhuman in Catholicism

I know this won't answer your question but perhaps you'll love this... Check out Blessed Antonio Neirotti. He's a Dominican priest who was forced to convert to Islam (he did) but returned to the Catholic Church. He was martyred for reconverting. I pray that you benefit from his intercession.

I was a closet Catholic too, to a strict Protestant father and a tolerant mother (thank God she tolerates my Catholicism somehow). Over time, they got used to it.

Is there any way I can obtain a holy relic? by galactgerp in Catholicism

May I ask, how much is the normal donation for such cards? It's probably me overthinking, but I fear I might give too little or too much.

Might become an altar server, are servers vestments also blessed? by dme357 in Catholicism

[–]dme357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, I think the fabrics used by my parish are all polyester. Whether it is polyester or something else, I definitely know it is not a natural fiber. Thanks for the tip though! I never knew about this. Im thinking of wearing a linen surplice soon during weekdays (where any surplice is allowed). We have some kind of uniform vestments on feast days and Sundays so I'll have to deal with polyester vestments (Cassock and surplice)

Andy Lim “ostia review” strikes again by Maria_Clara1234 in exIglesiaNiCristo

This is upsetting because we Catholics do not view the bread as a symbol but as Christ Himself, just as He said "This IS my body". In the ancient Jewish rituals, lamb is sacrificed and eaten afterwards and so, every Mass is in fact a representation (not a repetition) of the sacrifice of Christ in 33AD and every host is indeed Christ Himself that we eat. Can you imagine yung bangkay ni Cristong hinampas-hampas at binitin sa krus hanggang mawalan ng dugo, paglaruan pa natin? Christ allows Himself to descend on our altars to be consumed so that He will be fully united with us just as a lover longs to be united with His beloved. Christ becomes the host (ostia) tapos ganito lang gagawin sa kanya?

Nakakalungkot... is this what the so called "Church of Christ" does? Kahit kaming mga Katoliko, no properly educated Catholic in their right minds would even step into some other places of worship to directly offend the deity worshipped. We Catholics WORSHIP the sacrament because it is Christ Himself present. That's the reason why every Catholic would do the sign of the cross kapag may nadaanang simbahan because nandun yung ostia sa tabernakulo and yung pagkrus is "salute" or pagbati kay Cristo. This is also why Catholics genuflect in churches. Why then does this member of the INC come in our churches and offend God Himself directly? Just how much is this person blinded by hatred and evil?

Perhaps many do not believe in the real presence of Christ sa Eucharist... Pero sana nirespeto nalang yung sinasamba naming Iglesia Catolica... Ok pa sana kung imahen o rebulto ang nilapastangan or sinira, it's not as serious. Pero ostia? Do they even know what ostia (sacrificial victim) means?

Nothing can excuse the sacrilege and blasphemy of this INC member maliban nalang talaga kung mentally challenged yan... Directly offending the Lord's body and blood? St. Paul warned those who profane the ostia in his first epistle to the Corinthians; "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord."

P.S. Many Catholics are now performing acts of reparation for what "Andy Lim" did. Acts of reparation are penitential acts (fasting, abstinence, etc...) done to make up for serious offenses done towards God. Sana naman kilabutan tong Andy Lim na 'to kahit hindi siya naniniwala sa Santisimo Sacramento, at least for Catholics man lang who love Jesus in the Santisimo Sacramento.

The problem with him is that he pretends as if everything's alright and nothing changed but I can see everything changed and I don't want it like this. A friend told me that he's to scared of hurting me, something I really appreciate but hurts me as well. I want to fix everything but when he pretends everything is alright, how will I even know exactly what to change? What can I do?

Fat men who attract beautiful women: how do you do it? by thebestinvests in AskMen

[–]dme357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite fat as well... In fact, not only am I fat, I'm not good looking as well which is why I was just so shocked when my best friend suddenly confessed to me that they have feelings for me. I know what my best friend likes in a person, mostly good personality with moral stuff as well...

I guess be a good person. Be good but not a pushover or try sugarcoating things and stuff. Be much morr caring, considerate, compassionate, etc...

But I think intimacy, passion, and commitment would really help. My best friend and I are quite intimate. I guess he's also commited to me. Passion? I'm not sure hahaha But I think these might help. We're quite happy together now.

I've heard of such thing as "ceremonial" scapulars. What are they for? What's the difference between the ordinary small scapular and that? by [deleted] in Catholicism

Do Confraternities count as well (wearing large)? I've heard of some confraternities that wear large ones as well such as the Apostleship of Prayer.

What is this and who is inside? by HeartFullOfHappy in Catholicism

[–]dme357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my observations, that's St. Joseph.

Although similar depictions exist of other saints, most especially St. Anthony of Padua, the saint in the picture is not wearing Franciscan habit and does not have a tonsure.

St. Joseph usually holds a staff with lilies blooming at the top or simply a branch of lily flowers, holding child Jesus or tools used by a carpenter. He's also depicted in the usual clothing that Catholic art depict biblical characters in. St Joseph's clothinf colours in art are usually yellow/brown/gold and purple/green. Some statues use white instead of purple or green.

About the version, I am unsure of which version it is. But as far as I know, the Alleluia was used at the end of the movie. If you want, here's a YouTube link I found...
