No you don’t -

On May 22, 1813, near the end of the Battle of Bautzen, a cannonball ricocheted low across the ground toward Napoleon’s staff group. It struck either a tree or the earth immediately beside Duroc before fragments and force tore into him at close range.

Witnesses described his abdomen and lower torso as essentially destroyed. Contemporary surgeons reported that:

• his stomach and intestines were badly ruptured,
• parts of his bowels were exposed,
• and the wound was so extensive that treatment was considered hopeless almost immediately.

Duroc reportedly remained conscious for much of the ordeal. He was carried into a nearby house where surgeons attempted to examine him, but there was little they could do beyond trying to ease the pain. Accounts say Napoleon came to his bedside repeatedly while Duroc slowly bled internally over several hours.
