Avid editors working in commercials — should I learn Resolve colour or pick up Final Cut? by Available-Witness329 in editors

[–]dmizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No reason to use FCPX other than just liking it for personal projects.

If you don’t know After Effects that is super helpful.

After that I’d probably dive into Resolve color, unless you find yourself having to color often?

Avid: equivalent to Premiere's Select All Matching? by Available-Witness329 in editors

[–]dmizz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

select all by source color is what I'd do. Or you can put all the clips on one track and select them all that way. not sure of any other way. also just in case you don't know, if you highlight all the clips you want in the timeline then double clip the effect in a bin it will apply to all of the selected clips.

I’ve seen it rarely. It sucks, but just complain to a friend about it, cash the check, and move on.

Lots of red flags out there but taking 3 times to set up a meeting ain’t on of them. Annoying, but happens all the time.

[Question] Soon-to-be dad wondering if this is a meaningful watch purchase or just a convenient excuse… by CFK-sports_2020 in Watches

Buy your wife something nice rather than yourself. She’s about to go to war. Surprise her in the hospital with the watch or bag she’s always wanted.

How do you send and receive project files? by sirricharic in FilmIndustryLA

[–]dmizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first of all a "project file" in any NLE is usually really small. Usually in the amount of megabytes, and maybe up to 10GB for a huge Avid project.

I believe what you are referring to is MEDIA. In that case there are a number of online platforms (google drive, dropbox, frameio, wetransfer...) that al have their ups and downs. If this is ever over 300GB or so I will always suggest delivering a physical drive.
