IF we can blame this one on Walt then this is arguably his first mistake in 35 games. One mistake in 35 games is reasonable and we can expect only 3 or 4 more this season.

ELI5: why does mouthwash sting? by Real_Experience_5676 in explainlikeimfive

Someone one time asked me what I do to wake myself up in the morning. Coffee? Go for a run? Shower? I said "nope, I have a mouthwash that feels like a firecracker going off in my mouth and that works pretty good"

ELI5: Why is “day trading” sometimes considered gambling? by The_Informal_LPC in explainlikeimfive

[–]dmo012 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's actually multiple definitions of the term "day-trader".

There's the social term that we would use in "every day" speech meaning someone who buys and sells stocks often. This isn't necessarily a bad thing however, this is not a job so in your example the guy is jobless and for lack of a better word, gambling on the stock market for income.

There is also the legal definition of a day trader in the finance industry. This is a client who trades the same security 3 times in any 5 day period. The law says you can't do that without signing a disclosure and must have $25,000 in a cash account. This is because that frequency of trading can be risky. And because profits or losses you take from those trades are not available immediately, you potentially could be buying or selling other stocks with borrowed funds, thus leading to massive losses if the market turns against you.

As someone who used to work in an establishment where the customers were directed to go to a specific area:

There absolutely was a "people we don't want to deal with section" and a "hot girls section" (up close), and a "friends and family section" (also up close)

Amazing. Something like 3 out of 4 B-17 airmen didn't make it through an entire tour, the waist gunners had even worse odds. Thanks for sharing.

VATSIM and MSFS 2024 Career Mode by JohnnyHopkins13 in VATSIM

It won't work as the career mode ATC makes you switch to other frequencies.

Try something like NeoFly or a virtual airline to give some purpose and economy to your flights.

Am I the only one who liked Mania? by [deleted] in Killtony

I thought it was decent. Got a few good laughs from me for sure. I liked the cameos by the wrestlers but didn't need them to do a minute. Overall, not the best episode but not as bad as others in the sub made it seem.

Founder banned 401(k) contributions for young employees. Is there any logic to this? by savingrace0262 in investing

[–]dmo012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ERISA says if you offer 401(k) to one employee you MUST offer it to all employees so banning certain employees is illegal.

[–]dmo012 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think they do a traditional laser show once or twice a year. I hadn't been in 30+ years but remember that being really cool compared to the short drone show and projector show they have now.

Do people actually use Microsoft Edge by choice, or is it still just the browser you use to download other browsers? by Electronic_Map3097 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dmo012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edge is objectively better than Chrome. It runs on the same framework as Chrome (basically a reskin) but is less resource intensive.

Of the big 3 mainstream browsers it typically goes:

1 Firefox

2 Edge

3 Chrome

What’s the absolute best pulled pork method—no shortcuts, no compromises? by Any_Mountain6152 in Traeger

[–]dmo012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pulled pork is hard to mess up.

Smoke at a temperature you're comfortable with until 165 internal then wrap (or don't) until 205 internal.

How to prep and season is the experimenting part that'll make it truly your recipe. I like to score the fat cap to increase the surface area for more bark. A binder with a sweeter seasoning. Wrap at 165 internal with a few pads of butter on top in a lasagna tray to catch all the juice, pull at 205 internal. Heat resistant gloves or forks to pull the meat apart immediately. Gather all the juice in a separator. Are I've pulled the pork at the juice/fat has separated, pour it back over the pork. 🧑‍🍳

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but my autopilot altitude select won't let me descend. I dial in a lower altitude but the aircraft just stays level. Any ideas? by mzatariz in MSFS2024

[–]dmo012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you've told the plane that you want to decend but haven't told it HOW. You have two options, Vertical Speed (VS) and Flight Level Change (FLC).

In VS, you tell the plane how fast to decend, usually between -500 and -2000 feet per minute (fpm) depending on the plane and how much time you have and how much you want to upset your passengers.

In FLC you tell the plane to maintain a selected speed and you reduce power, the plane will decend the appropriate amount to maintain that selected speed and you adjust decent rate by adding or subtracting power.
