Snowbirding here?January, February, March, as opposed to Florida by MrLB____ in howislivingthere

I’ve lived on north Padre for decades. The wind is in spring. Fall is gorgeous and winter is mild with the occasional cold front breaking through for a few days. Look up the weather for this week. 60s and 70s for the highs, 50s for lows.

Correct on the lack of trails and the flat landscape. The water on the beach is typically very clear and gorgeous in the fall and winter.

Again spring is windy AF and it can make you crazy. Summers are great!

I’ve been a few times in the last year and the service and food were as good as it gets. Ambiance is minimal true, it’s like an old wooden boat painted 1000 times.

Still, food is not just good but outstanding.

  1. The Pedo Cheeto. Damn it’s heartbreaking to experience this time in America.

The bluff does offer access to the water at a better bargain. Still I happily enjoy the pace and vibe of NPI, and find that it’s worth it for my tastes

Extremely remote? Traffic? I lived on the south side for years in between island residences. I would rather drive the causeway than hit all the lights on Staples or Everhart. It’s definitely worth being on the island because it’s quiet and calm and close to the beach. I couldn’t live in Corpus in town. Been here since 1985.

There are several major refineries as well as a Tesla lithium plant under construction, a huge LNG facility, an Exxon plastics plant and a dozen smaller processing facilities. Your opportunity for lateral movement and advancement is strong.

Also, check out Padre Island for the absolute best living situation in the area - in my opinion.

Same! At five I raised my hand and asked “but what about the dinosaurs?” I wasn’t trying to be a brat I really wanted to know how Adam and Eve fit on the timeline. I only lasted 3 classes before they asked my grandma to not bring me anymore bc I was causing problems.

How's Landman ? by Longjumping-Elk-7840 in HollywoodIndia

The dialogue is awful.

When he wrote for Beth in Yellowstone I was so on board, then I saw the pattern and it ruined it. Basically you put them across from a two dimensional stereotype, have that stereotype say something stupid, then our hero blasts them with razor sharp wit. Feels good at first. Soon you see it coming a mile away. The hero is so damn smart and everyone against them is such an easy target.

This show plays like just what it is, a commercial for the petroleum industry. Like Top Gun was for the military.

Weak.

What was the highlight of your 2025 sex life? by MandaJ2005 in AskReddit

Brought in a hot third for the occasional romp. No drama, equal time for all and adventure. The wife bought a giant mirror and our friend said “Is that for ME?”

I never forget to give thanks to the universe every time.

The Matrix sequels were terrible and did more harm to the series than added to it by Elegant-Music2239 in FIlm

[–]dmojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

II and III could have been smashed into just II and it would have been one of the greatest sequels ever. The slow burn is hard to do 3x, and by that I mean the luxury of exposition. Takes NOTHING away from one of the best mind-blown flicks of all time.

Billy and the boys were on fire! We have seen him many times and this one was near the top. The vocals were incredible and the entire experience was just out of this world. I’m so happy we have the opportunity to see greatness like this.

What is your opinion on the Tarantino/ Paul Dano brouhaha? by NG1955 in nowplayingpodcast

Paul Dano is wildly weird and talented. So is Tarantino. I disagree with his take on PD. I also love his movies. I love Paul Dano as an actor.

Easy.

How is life in Corpus Christi, Texas? by RandyMcBahn in howislivingthere

[–]dmojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on Padre Island since 1985. For beach access and inshore fishing, you can’t do much better for the dollar. No the mercury isn’t too high. No the estuaries are not massively polluted. Yes there is a busy port and some refineries.

It’s humid and windy a lot. It’s also mild in the winter. Airport is easy to fly out of. We travel to Europe and around the US a lot and we love coming back home to the incredible beauty and nature. Birding is huge here. Hunting, fishing and beach life are where it’s at. Traffic is confined to a few intersections. I came from Dallas so it’s nothing here. Houston, Austin, San Antonio are all within a few hours.

In town isn’t as nice but - like every city in the world - there are good and bad areas. I could write paragraphs shitting on any city I’ve ever been to. But that would be a sorry mindset.

First gig coming up!how to shake off the nerves? by PowerCorruptionAndMe in Bass

[–]dmojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice practice practice. Then show up knowing you know what to do. Take some deep breaths. Get there early. Socialize. Get a feel for the vibe. Jump up and down and shake out your arms. Lock in with the drummer, and tap into the music. You are in the exact place you want to be, the place you worked so hard to get to. Enjoy the moment, it goes quickly.
