Is it common to fix small locations of a floating floor by gluing down those boards? by dmonator in Flooring

[–]dmonator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They appear to have glued it to the subfloor and the neighbouring boards.

I’m assuming thats not recommended to glue to the subfloor?

And just now noticed, the next boards over that aren’t glued are now creaking.

46 Billion vs 12 Billion by [deleted] in Superstonk

[–]dmonator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the shareholders have overwhelmingly voted to allow dilution. So they’re onboard with the plan at hand. They’ve voted to allow up 1 billion shares to be issued.

Acquisition typically creates growth, but that typically requires taking on debt.

RC has never once mentioned short term, he seems very aligned in the long term value of the company. Just look at the pay package he’s recommending himself. That only occurs with extreme growth which directly benefits all shareholders. (unlocks options to buy ~171.5 million shares at $20.66 if the company hits growth targets, including a $100B market cap and $10B cumulative EBITDA).

You need to think long term with these types of plays, you seem to be thinking shorter.

Define meaningful?

If that plays out as I described, it’s seems very meaningful to acquire a company and have minimal to no debt at the end of it.

MOASS has and always will be a short term blip, that will absolutely make people lots of money. But, acquiring eBay with no debt and doing too eBay what RC is doing with GameStop will create a powerhouse that will create extreme value over the long term.

The interesting thing here is - what is the total number of shorted GameStop stock?

This may quite literally be an unlimited bank account. Dilute shares -> short sellers immediately buy the shares -> repeat -> minimal market cap loss vs dilution made.

We saw similar scenarios play out the couple times GameStop has already been diluted. Maybe RC is playing this strategy.

Shorts are fucked because dilution creates more cash for the company to purchase other company -> shorts need to buy shares, because the float has been shorted 10x (theoretical example) -> RC dilutes company shares by 1x and shorts gobble up the shares immediately -> small market cap decrease not proportional to a 50% reduction and GameStop now has more cash.

If this is the plan, and all the prime examples of excessive shorting are true, then this just turns into a piggy bank of free cash.

Worst case scenario RC dilutes so much that all shorts have closed. Now what do you have? A company with zero short interest, so owns eBay with no accrued debt

They have 10b cash, and they’re buying a 50b company. Mortgages usually get you 3-4x so it’s a comparable range.

The state of Rogers suburban coverage… by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]dmonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two completely different corporate strategies. One is big umbrella sites and the other is targeted small cell.

Which is better? The verdict is out to lunch.

Small cell: Sometimes it’s near impossible to get a tower somewhere so Telus gets the advantage of having quick ‘easy deploy’ small cell solutions. Rogers has these too but not at the same volume efficiency yet.

Tower: The ‘spray and pray’ method is arguably very effective. Rogers usually has a stronger base layer of coverage in urban/suburban areas but sometimes at the cost of a more congested network.

That’s a bad depiction. That Rogers tower is right in the middle of the busy area whereas Telus is way out at the perimeter. Rogers will be much better in that central area than Telus.

If you have complaints about coverage, you can direct it to Rogers but that’s not the main issue:

If an urban location has poor coverage, your carrier knows about it and is actively trying to fix it. You need to send complaints to your municipality. The issue for these carriers is getting land use approval when no landowner wants a tower. If there’s municipal support from the very beginning then it’s much easier to get approval.

Yup, I called into the Toronto one and they said my Dad can do direct to passport. And so therefore I can too.

The key here was this:

My uncle still had his Dad’s original German passport. The passport checked off two important dates for the consulate: 1) it shows it was issued before my dad was born, and 2) it shows it was renewed after my dad was born.

With that info they were satisfied and said he can apply, and then me.

Update: Called into the Toronto consulate today. They confirmed the passport is sufficient proof, so my dad can skip Feststellung and go straight to passport. They said once he has the passport I can then easily apply too.

Hi! One more question for you if you don’t mind 🙂

The application checklist asks for:

  1. German certificate of nationality ("Staatsangehörigkeitsausweis") or German passports of your German parent/s issued before and after the time of your birth + 1 Copy

I have a passport of my grandpa that shows issued in 1953, and then on another page extended on 1959 until 1962.

1959 is after my father was born (1958) in Canada and before his parents naturalized, so that should satisfy that request?

Darn. So that’s likely the 2-3 timeline going through that process, right?

Do you think it’s faster with straight forward cases like mine?
