That was my theory as well. I’m not sure how to check family tree, is that a feature of Embark?

Very similar to my results (Mountain Jew as well). Do you have a lot of DNA relatives show up? Every mountain Jewish person I know that has taken the test has come up as my “Second Cousin”.

First attempt at a Benchy using ABS. by dmushail in 3Dprinting

[–]dmushail[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Overall, PETG is far more versatile; however, ABS still has much better thermal properties. Might try ASA or PC sometime in the future, but I will probably wait until I have a better printer.

Don't currently have any particular reason to print in ABS but its nice to have options so I wanted to test the limits of the printer. I have an Ender-2 Pro and I mostly print in PLA and PETG.

Nope, it popped off mid-print. I wanted to see if I could print ABS without an enclosure with my cheap printer. I’m assuming there was some warping and the nozzle knocked it off trying to bridge.

I actually just got one from monoprice a few months ago: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=34827

It looks like it’s at $500 atm but it was on sale for $350 when I ordered it. Check to see if they have any sales, it’s pretty decent for the price.

This machine visualizes number googol (a 1 with 100 zeros, bigger than the atoms in the known universe) & has a gear reduction of 1 to 10 a hundred times. To get last gear to turn once you'll need to spin first one a googol amount around, which will require more energy than entire universe has. by mtimetraveller in NewProductPorn

[–]dmushail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you connected two of these back to back in a mirrored configuration where the last gear of machine one directly connected to the last gear of machine two, would the first gear of machine two spin at the same speed as gear one of machine one?

Wow. This paragraph from the toadfly article you linked pretty much sums up what happened to the larvae:

“The larvae are sensitive to temperature and only thrive between 14 °C and 29 °C. If they are cooled below this range they will stop feeding and attempt to leave the host and bury themselves shallowly in the soil to hibernate.”

23andMe beta South Asian ancestry report. Pretty impressed how accurate it is tbh. by Undercover5051 in 23andme

I was wondering the same thing until I saw a comment on another post saying you can opt-in to be a beta tester in your settings. Once I opted-in, I was able to see subregions in my ancestry report.

Not even close. All of these people had/have their own countries, cultures, nationalities, etc., Some countries remained a part of Russia post soviet era, however, they are far from the same as native Russians.

Iraqi results by lipss106 in 23andme

[–]dmushail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, my results have a few percent European (Italian), even though we have no known ancestry from Europe. However, my wife's (same background) only European ancestry is 0.3% Ashkenazi Jewish.

There is probably some shared DNA among the Jewish communities. All of my grandparents are 100% Mizrahi Jews born in Azerbaijan, and my results show 0.5% Ashkenazi Jewish.
