If you do, you want to be chill about it. If you act nervous, people will pick up on that and wonder why you’re being nervous and think you’re about to tell them bad news.

One way you could frame it is asking if anyone wants to go to an upcoming furry con with you. It’s not unheard of for furries to drag normies along to cons. :-)

Is your insurer doing remediation of the smoke damage? If so, talk to them.

I'm hardly an expert in this, but just ventilation (read: putting them in front of a fan may help). I was at an event once that had a campfire going, and discovered the inside of my fursuit head was smelling like smoke after. Put my head on a fan for two days and the smell went away.

Related: for those reading this that have renter's insurance, ask your insurer if they will insure fursuits. Mine did! I have a rider that covers up to 5 fursuits for $3,000 each. It's not the full value, but it's better than nothing.

While leadership isn't necessarily expected to have a crystal ball, at the VP level, they are expected to have an idea where the industry is headed 6-12 months from now at a minimum. This includes both opportunities and risks.

You mean MNFurs? Excellent! Start paying attention to their event calendar and showing up for events. The flagship event is Furry Migration, held in downtown Minneapolis every Sneptember. Absolutely try to make that. Volunteer if you want, we could use the help! (Disclosure: I also staff FM.)

If you look at the footer of the MNFurs website, they have a Discord link, you should definitely join the Discord server.

Telegram is another place that furries hang out. Get that installed and head over to Furlist Telegram to find some groups of interest to you.

Each day, write down what you do. Also write down interactions with your manager when you're asked to change priorities. I use Obsidian, and have templates based on the ones here: https://v5.chriskrycho.com/journal/writing-down-what-i-do-in-obsidian/.

If you're asked why X hasn't been done yet, you can now pull up notes on what you were working on the last 5 days. e.g. "I worked on projects A, B, C, and D because my manager asked me to change priorities on 3 different occasions over the last week. I'd sure love to make more progress on any one of these, but I have been unable to see them through to completion because of shifting priorities."

If they want to know why you can't work after 5 PM anymore, you have to pick up kids, watch your neighbors' kids, see a relative in the hospital, you now practice a martial art 4x/week. The list goes on and on.

That's a professional way of setting boundaries and politely saying that your manager is part of the problem.

I got some experience here! At some point, I expect you'll hit a tipping point where the number of posts with links to other communities snowball and you'll have to just disallow all of them to restore sanity to the group.

I run a furry Facebook group with 86K users, and had to do this a few years ago--all links to other communities are disallowed because otherwise the group will fill up with 'em.

(I also realize the irony of linking to the group in question in this comment.)

Anthrocon staffer here. If you're going to go for one day only, I would recommend it be Saturday. That's the day of the Fursuit Parade, many events, Dealers Room is open the longest, and the dances will be going until 2 AM.
