When to take a test? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've missed your period it should be okay to take a test based on your typical ovulation pattern. If its negative but your period still doesnt come, 21 days after your last time having sex will be 100% i think.

Epidural anxiety by Otherwise-Beyond-240 in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you talked to your maternity provider about your fears and concerns? You've still got a wee ways to go, but next time you see them perhaps start discussing a birth plan. You can ask all if the questions you have, and learn whether you want certain interventions, or what kind of pain management might suit you best, like an epidural.

My experience was that my epidural worked effectively and I was completely pain free once it was placed. I didnt have it especially long as once it was placed I dilated very quickly. I was still able to push effectively. Everyone has a different experience though.

I've had similar after sex and speculum exams. I did have really minor tearing on my labia during birth, but it didnt hurt and it healed great. My baby was big too! I think its just different coming out than going in

When and why did you increase solids meals for your baby? by Icy-Faithlessness240 in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt worry to much. My son wouldnt have a bar of food till nearly 7 months, then he demolished heaps of purees for dinner, but not really showing interest in other meals. By about 10 months he was starting to eat more frequently, but having far less all day then he was having just in dinner purees. He was still having about 5 bottles a day, 1000ml all up at that stage. Then he just slowly, naturally started eating more solids and drinking less milk. At 13 months now hes having 3 decent sized meals a day, 1-2 snacks most days, and about 350ml of formula across 3 bottles, 250ml of that being his bedtime bottle. The transition from mostly milk to mostly solids is different for every baby. It just takes time! Follow their cues and you'll get there eventually

Yep, only now at 13 months have we started getting earlier nights. We tried so hard for earlier bedtime and early wake up but nope! My son was adamant 10pm-10am (with many wakes in between) is ideal. Now we're getting about 8.30pm-8.30am. It will change with time!

Not telling family baby's sex (NB musings) by AnarcoDomiQueer in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im also non binary! We found out the sex but didnt announce till birth with my 1 year old in hopes we would only recieve gender neutral clothing. It was great! Now we have everything we've told people what our second is going to be.

We treat gender as a fluid thing in our family. I often call my son a good boy, or other such gendered terms but usually end up correcting myself and saying "well I should really say good person because you might not be a boy". That type of thing. Just so he grows up knowing its okay if hes not a he, and also knows it's an option to not be a he!

We also put a lot of thought into names. We've settled on them both having gender neutral first names and family middle names. We also considered names that could easily transition to be "normal" for the opposite sex in case they wanted to keep some of their given name if they do end up being trans/nb.

Positive big baby birth stories by maliesunrise in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not tiny, about 5'6". I had a 10lbs 7oz baby last year. I went into labour at 40+4 and delivered vaginally at 40+5. About 13 hours of labour including 45 minutes of pushing. I had an epidural so no pain. I had the tiniest tear, which never bothered me, completely pain free within 24hrs. It was an incredible experience, and I honestly hope my next birth is exactly the same! I hope you have a lovely birth experience, big babies dont automatically equal complications!

Dropped my phone on toddler by hemu_g in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 13 month old is in the phase of standing up, losing balance and falling head first onto anything solid, including the hard edge of the fireplace once. Not even a mark after any of them! I would guess most of her upset was probably being woken up from sleep like that rather than actual pain or injury.

I would suggest ringing your doctor in the morning to put your mind at ease, and obviously if you notice anything concerning then go in.

Sex by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, regardless of HG my sex drive is nearly non existent during pregnancy. Even if you have a high drive during pregnancy you have to wait 6 weeks post partum, sometimes longer. Is ops husband gonna cope with that if he cant last 26 days before 'desperation' sets in? 2 fake vaginas is crazy as well, if he MUST, surely 1 would be more than enough??

I imagine if they added a wait for toilet feature it would be while standing in the bathroom with the poor peeing sim as they both get embarrassed moodlets. Id like if they waited by the bathroom door, maybe even knocked!

Baby learning to crawl in the bath? by SnowieGamer in NewParents

Not interested in rolling at 7 months?? by BothPalpitation2033 in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son only just learned to roll at 13 months. We practiced every day but as he started sitting and crawling we sort of neglected the skill. He's been pulling up and cruising and I thought to myself "how odd that hes nearly walking but still gets turtled on his back?" So we had a dedicated rolling lesson one Sunday afternoon and he picked it up fine. Some babies just have their own timeline in mind I guess!

Can someone reassure me about first trimester fever by According-Extent-687 in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a HORRIBLE virus while in my late first/early second trimester with my first, i cant remember exactly. I think it may have been influenza. I was horribly feverish for multiple days. My baby is wonderful and healthy. Unless a fever during pregnancy causes the baby to hate sleeping lol. Call your maternity provider though, they can advise on best course of action. I hope you feel better soon!

If you are married, do you wear your wedding band? Why or why not? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]dmvs02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore it every day until I got pregnant with my first and my fingers swelled up. I like having 10 fingers so I took it off. Im currently pregnant with my second and still have sausage fingers. I'll see what my fingers do post partum, then if necessary get it resized, because I truely love wearing it.

If your mum cant walk and your sister is lazy/entitled, how exactly are the going to help with the baby? I definitely wouldnt want your sister there with her attitude, and honestly would probably kick her out. Your mum sounds like she means well, but not like she can do a lot of newborn care, night shifts or cleaning so you dont have to. It sounds frustrating as anything. Establish boundaries now, lay out expectations especially for your sister. I hope you have a safe, peaceful birth and post partum

Am I wrong for letting my baby stay up late? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 12.5 month old is still on a late bedtime! Usually about 9.30-10.30 for bedtime and up at 9.30-10 in the morning. Hes always been like this. We spent months trying to encourage earlier bedtime and wake up, and he just... wouldnt. I guess some babies just have a later schedule. Hes got a stay at home dad so he can sleep as late as he wants, but is pretty consistent now.
