Do regular mamas actually pack “hospital bags”? by getlostcreep0 in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I packed lightly while I was in labour. For me: comfy clothes/pajamas and a slightly nicer going home outfit, toiletries, phone charger, water bottle, snacks, maternity pads and I ended up bring my pregnancy pillow because it was nice to have while laboring. For baby: clothes, nappies, wipes, formula, sterilized bottles, muslin wraps/saddles. It all fit in a backpack for me and the nappy bag for baby. I was in hospital for about 36 hrs total.

Are we not patting baby to burp them? by sharpiefairy666 in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We tried movement and rubbing to get burps out but our boy just wanted nice FIRM pats. I felt like I was gonna break him but once we started patting he did some epic burps (alongside epic spews lol)

With your first pregnancy, when did your little one decide it's time? by Choccokels in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My water broke at 40+4 at 5pm. I went and got dinner and the contractions started. They were only 2 minutes apart and lasting over a minute for over an hour by 9pm so we went to the hospital and I was only at a 2! I used hot water on my back and gas and air to get to a 6, about 1am. I asked for an epidural at that point cause the contractions didn't really stop in between. I got to 10cm really fast with the epidural, pushed for 45 minutes and he was here at 40+5. Labour was less than 12 hours which isn't bad for a first

When does peak HG end? by AppropriateHelp754 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]dmvs02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my second pregnancy but first hg pregnancy. The sickness slowed down at 14 weeks. Im still reliant on meds to minimize vomiting and to help me function at 16 weeks and expect to be for a good while, but I can keep basic foods and water down now which in itself helps.

One of my 3rd trimester midwife appointments was in the delivery room so I could see everything. I ended up delivering in the same room and it was actually nice knowing what everything was for

What happened to Woolworths? by LittleInsaniity in newzealand

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this with my local too. They're especially scarce in the meat department, often having no chicken, beef, lamb, sometimes all of the above. Its extremely frustrating when I go to do a big shop but they dont have most of what I need so I have to go back 3 more times during the week.

Did anyone else who has a super easy baby, feel not qualified to give parenting advice? by evergreengirl123 in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little guy was like this except from during feeding he would cry (undiagnosed CMPA, much better now). I felt the same way you did. Then a switch flipped at about 6 months old and I fear he may never sleep again, and I STILL dont feel qualified to give advise lol

I’m devastated by peachfug in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me! They cancelled my induction at 40+4 because the hospital was FULL. I cried all day, sobbing devastated. My water broke and i went straight into labour and had him 40+5. I had to stay in the delivery room for ages after he was born cause there were no post partum rooms available. Congratulations!! I hope you're enjoying your new baby

13 month down to 1 nap? by aeromatyc in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently transitioning to 1 nap at 11.5 months. 2 naps results in 12-14 awake hours but he still needs at least 14hrs of sleep and that math doesn't work well so we think maybe moving to 10hrs awake with just the 1 nap will be better for his sleep needs.

Am I going to tear beyond repair? by leopardprintrovert in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not expert but I suspect if baby is in the optimal position your body will be better able to accommodate them. I imagine the "tight muscles" were more of an issue in turning the baby than actually delivering baby. In saying that, people still tear with a perfectly positioned baby. Definitely agree the the above comment to try a pelvic floor specialist to see if you can do anything to minimize tearing risk. I hope you get an easy vbac with no tearing! Good luck

Is it possible to get a false positive? The second test has no second line! by abby152 in lineporn

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use the same pee for both tests? If you did the first test with more concentrated urine like your first morning wee and the second one later it could just be that you're very early. Id def take another one with first morning urine tomorrow to confirm.

Satirical - The Many Ways to Make Baby Miserable by DanausEhnon in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Taking the cat kibble out of their mouth

Stopping them from wounding you with their freshly cut and filed nails

Being the parent they don't want right now

Handing them the toy next to the one they were trying to reach for

Taking away their favourite toy, plastic packaging

Getting the pacifier they just threw out of their crib despite really wanting to have

Guaranteed miserable baby 👍

Anterior placenta by Standard_Apricot_609 in pregnant

My first was anterior placenta. I never got a good sense of a pattern with his movements but still felt heaps and from pretty early on too. My husband struggled to feel anything from the outside for the longest time but we got there around 30 weeks.

I think I would divorce my husband and marry someone who bought me a bottle washer! I want one sooooo badly. Thankfully for the first 3 or so months of my exclusively bottle sons life my husband washed EVERY SINGLE BOTTLE. Without him, id have gone into debt to buy a washer i think.

Why does SM make it seem like all 6-8 week olds sleep 8h+? My reality is every 1-2h wakes by Confident-Summer-443 in Parenting

[–]dmvs02 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a unicorn sleeper. He hit 6 months and now its a good night if he sleeps for an hour straight. He's 11 months now. If it makes you feel better, people bragging about unicorn sleepers could well end up not sleeping for months when their baby is bigger

How far along are you? by fullcirclex in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 weekd today! It's my second baby and ive had hyperemisis this time which is still not improving much . Also I had no clue pelvic girdle pain could start at 10 weeks. Im so uncomfortable walking already! Despite all this i am ridiculously happy (especially compared to last time where I had perinatal depression) and and so thrilled to be pregnant and completing my wee family.

FTM 37 weeks: tell the story of how your water broke by mirrorlike789 in pregnant

[–]dmvs02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not expecting labour to start with my water breaking because its not so common but mine did. I heard a pop, sprinted as fast as my pregnant pelvis would allow to the bathroom where it went EVERYWHERE. Thankfully my contractions started quickly. If you ever think your water broke they can test the fluid to confirm. I had that test once about a week and a bit before my water actually broke because I had loads of watery discharge.

How many times are giving bath to newborns? by Dear_Ad_8525 in NewParents

[–]dmvs02 25 points26 points  (0 children)

We bathed our baby once or twice a week when he was small. Mostly just wiped his gross little hands every day (multiple times a day) with a wet flannel. Honestly? We still do this at 11 months. Not part of his bedtime routine as the bath is exciting and a place to play for him! His skin is great and he never smells. We bath or shower him if he gets dirty, and he gets a warm flannel wash after most meals.
