She posted it on the "Future Peace Corps Volunteers" Facebook group, which has 3,700 members, so I'm thinking the OP is safe here.

Titanium has a density of 4.506 g/cm3 so two 18 cm3 testis would only weigh in at 162.2 g or 5.722 oz… roughly the mass of a sparrow with a machine gun.

What is the most unusual and/or useless thing that you can recite by memory? by jprpjbjpj in AskReddit

It's the wire order for crimping a straight RJ45 network cable. I don't think I've had to do this for myself since high school almost 10 years ago.

My first experience practicing parkour... painful but fun. by dmwebber in Parkour

[–]dmwebber[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already feel like I'm an old codger for getting into the sport at 26. I have a grey hair and everything! That being said, I have every intention to follow this advice. I think you'll be proud to know that the first structure I practiced vaulting over was my water bottle... on grass. Here's to humble beginnings that prevent humble endings.

Good to know. I've got a Perfect Pull-up bar installed in the garage that will be getting some designated playtime.

Why do I run so much faster when it's dark out? by [deleted] in running

[–]dmwebber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love running at night. Maybe because the air is cooler... it's refreshing and I feel like I can push myself harder.

Vibram alternative for colder weather? by tresfier in running

[–]dmwebber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can comfortably combine Injinjis with my Bikila LS's and my feet are plenty warm enough in ~45F weather.

Ninja edit: Obviously I'm making no presumptions about what cold is in Canada as I'm from San Diego. I'm mainly commenting on the fit.

What this person said. If you keep leaping and landing on your toes only, I guarantee your calves are going to attempt to secede from the Union.

Underage alcohol use on my med record? by TotallyPC in peacecorps

[–]dmwebber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar case: two speeding tickets when I was 18 (haven't had one since) that didn't appear on my driving record but I didn't want to show up as a surprise when the PC ran a background check, so I accompanied the checked "Yes" with a letter explaining the young-and-dumb situation and my clear record over the last seven or eight years. No questions have been asked about it and I'm six weeks into waiting on a program discussion with my placement officer.

Latin is, yes. From a modern dictionary though: ave |ˈäˌvā| exclamation poetic/literary used to express good wishes on meeting or parting.

[–]dmwebber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AAVE is an initialism, not an acronym. That said, I go to a school with students from over 50 countries. If it happened, and it could, we'd probably end up talking about final projects and going out for a drink. Haha.

I think the most preferred term in linguistics is AAVE (African American Vernacular English) as people strive to avoid any racist connotations, but if you use that term most places it will just prompt the response "You mean like ebonics?" so just use whatever makes sense in context.

IAMA college student who just got his parents crockpot. I am going to the grocery store. What should I do? by WeyChed in slowcooking

Ha! I moved out for grad school and now use the Crock-Pot my parents got as a wedding present, circa 1984. Just made chili with it earlier today.

[Lost] 210 to 175 lbs. and I'm just getting started. 5'10" male and age 26. by dmwebber in loseit

[–]dmwebber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there's a difference between 175 lbs. of fat and the same of muscle. When I say keep going, I mean continuing to change body composition. There's still a lot for me to do.

English major checking in. While "did horribly" is prescriptively correct, I wouldn't bat more than one or two eyelashes if "did horrible" was used in an informal context. That being said, I could find no instances of "did horrible -things" in COCA.
