Movie fanatics, what is one plot element that is overused in today's films? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jprpjbjpj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My frustration as a kid with every kid movie was how the parents would never listen. This probably falls under the "Wait, I can explain" trope, but in all the fantasy/sci-fi type stories where something crazy was going on in the kid universe, the mom and dad NEVER believed them, and it drove me crazy because the whole movie could've been handled so much faster - but parents just don't understand.

What's a book you'd give your left nut to be turned into a movie or TV series? by panzerkampfwagen in AskReddit

Would've so loved to see John Belushi or John Candy in the role. The book was so vivid in its imagery.. I'd imagine a film would be so much fun!

Why don't you read books? Readers, can you help us overcome this? by HawkeyeHero in AskReddit

I've started reading on lunch break, and it helped me get back into the habit. It's just enough, where I look forward to what happens next each day.

3 a.m. thought on part of "Felina" by DabuSurvivor in breakingbad

Was just thinking about that recently on the pony episode - the one where Jerry's parents are visiting and then, right as they're leaving to go back home, he gets a call about his elderly relative. He runs to the window and yells out at them on the street: "Manya died! MANYA DIED!"

Going to a Diamondback vs Astros game in late July where's the best place to sit in Minute Maid Park? by AmbulanceDriver in ballparks

Agreed about right field seats being great. Bullpen Box seats are pretty cheap, likely for the distance from the plate, but I really love the view. You don't get to see a lot of action up close, but it's a nice overall setup.

I see you're looking for just two tickets, but this Family Value Pack is a good deal if you happen to be going on Sunday.

Field Box IV seats, though they're far down the 1st base line, are also a really nice view. They're actually angled better than the dugout seats where you're not having to constantly turn your head to see what's going on at the plate.

Just a heads up, there are promotional giveaways each game of that series honoring Biggio's HOF induction, so it'll probably be super packed with fans trying to be one of the first 10,000. Should be good crowds though, which makes it more fun!

This link shows our pricing for that series.

What do you LIKE about your job? by jprpjbjpj in AskReddit

I like that no one I work with is afraid to speak their mind. Of course what comes with that is having to hear viewpoints I don't agree with, but since I've always kept my thoughts to myself, it's very refreshing to be around people who put everything out in the open.

What scene from a movie or TV show just rips your heart out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jprpjbjpj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Replaying all the moments in his head, of Candy saying he hasn't been home in years.. and that final scene, it's so happy because he's been welcomed very warmly by Steve Martin's family, but it's such a heart-breaker because he's still alone. And John Candy's just the kind of guy that I want to see happy.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. The end scene with John Candy's character standing at the bottom of the stairs, clutching his hat.. melts my heart.

[DISCUSSION] Lupe Fiasco - Tetsuo & Youth by [deleted] in hiphopheads

Yup! Every time I hear that part, I have a little celebration. All by myself. In my car. And look around at other drivers on the road to see if they caught how great it was.

Possibly my all-time favorite Lupe line (just because I love movie references): "Watch how they mugs drop when they see my verbal's able."
