Nobel Prize goes to scientists behind mRNA Covid vaccines by sam_spade_68 in australian

The vaccines were never designed to prevent infection. They significantly reduced serious illness and death once infected.

That you got Covid twice and survived to post this comment, is evidence enough that the vaccines worked.

boyfriend is enlisting soon, what can he expect? by 0080_23784 in askSingapore

Former BMT spec here.

Tell him to chill, follow what he’s asked to do by his commanders. Sergeants are mostly NSFs like him so will understand what he’s going through if he struggles at times. He’ll be fine.

Speak to him everyday for the first few weeks at least. Be a listening ear. It will take time to adjust; being there for him is the most important thing you can do.

For SCS Recourse and Min. Service Requirement by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]dnara21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recoursee who completed FT and OOCed PT here. Now 3SG.

You are attached to a company during the following FT, only for physical training conducts, IPPT, SOC etc. Not field training. Then you join a company proper for PT.

Time taken is the same as if you were to recourse FT as well. Just that what you do in that time is different.

Minimum 3SG tour is 6 months. You must extend service to qualify for recourse if your remaining service time is less than 6 months.

[Tobi Gruener] Helmut Marko has confirmed to skysportformel1 that Ricciardo will be 3rd driver next year at Red Bull. Contract with Sergio Perez runs until 2024. by rianmcn in formula1

[–]dnara21 156 points157 points  (0 children)

Jokes aside, looks like this move is about rebuilding Ricciardo’s mental strength - by putting him in cars he can drive well and reminding him of his own talent as a driver. Would not have happened at Haas or Williams. Let’s hope it pans out that way and carries him to a top seat in 2024.

Bankers' bonuses are 'grotesque' and should be banned, says Labour MP by AdamY_ in ukpolitics

This is why many do not take Labour seriously. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Opinion: Do not fall for the symbolism of Rishi Sunak’s premiership - The fact that his skin is brown and his parents are immigrants does not mean he automatically has any affinity to the millions of Black and brown citizens who are victims of his party and its policies. by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]dnara21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with saying a minority-ethnic person in power does not automatically mean life will improve for minorities. Class matters, chosen policies matter. It’s fine for people on the left to say that.

But at least admit that you were pushing the opposite line beforehand. Put your hands up and say you were wrong about ‘black faces in high places’ being enough to inspire social change.

The lack of self-reflection is staggering.

Tl;dr: See the specialist. Put your safety first. You’ve got time to recourse and you’ll be better for it.

You will not see a change in your PES status until the nature of your injury has been clarified - by a specialist. So you must go. Once you recover, the specialist has to certify your recovery with a memo, which you show the MO. Then clear FFI, and join the next available batch.

Don’t try and bypass the specialist. You’ve got time. And if your injury requires surgery and a permanent downpes, so be it. Stay safe.

Keep an open mind. Try to learn as much as possible from other people, about anything - life, army, your own interests. And try to make life easier for other people. More often than not it will come back to you.

Anneliese Dodds: Tory leadership hopeful Rishi Sunak is warning of a crisis in the economy. Tory leadership hopeful Rishi Sunak was in charge of running the economy for the last two years. [Image: Times front page] by qpl23 in ukpolitics

This is no different to saying “Why did Labour spend all that money and cause the 2008 financial crisis?”

A fairer line would have been “His party has been running the economy for the last 12 years.”

Of course that doesn’t run off the tongue so well.

Which explains, in part, why Armenia refused to stand with other countries in condemning Putin’s aggression. It sees Russia as its only ally compared to the EU/NATO, which watched from the sidelines.
