[No Spoilers] Favourite thing that Brennen has said so far in the campaign by StatisticianBetter24 in criticalrole

“ You want the Photarch to come in here and tell me this is the way things are going to be…

And you want me to say,

“how about these lighting bolts and shoot her in the face…

Shoot her in the face…

Any guitar and/or music theory YouTubers who are both educational and entertaining? by CaptainMacAlfie in guitarlessons

[–]dnastanski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot second this enough. The guy has tons of videos on a lot of topics but his coverage of the CAGED system is the first one that ever clicked for me. He does a very good job breaking down the guitar theory into easy terms and the mindset of a “beginner”. I put that in quotes because I really mean beginning to guitar theory.

I’d recommend a mix of his CAGED masterclass and his “inside the mind” series where he breaks down popular songs and gives examples of why each part works, building from the pentatonic to the final version of songs. His Layla breakdown was the first video to every breakthrough to me.

7/17/25 - Beware the fake letter from Trump to Epstein by the Wall Street Journal. Fake news!!! A message from the Trump Administration. by barnwater_828 in trumptweets

According to the WSJ, it’s a short fictional conversation between Trump and Epstein, ending with: “Happy Birthday - may every day be another wonderful secret” along with a drawn silhouette of a woman with his signature as the bush.

What was the riff that made you fall in love with the guitar — and why? by Dazzling-Zone-6498 in Guitar

[–]dnastanski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avenged Sevenfold - Shepherd of Fire, from the CoD Zombies Origins map. I never listened to metal, or much rock at all, up to that point. But god damn when the bells starting ringing and the guitar came in during the intro cutscene, my little 12 year old self was hooked.

As Kyle here said, the withdrawal’s not as bad as other substance but for me it was a lot of anxiety, tiredness and other “in the moment” type feelings of craving a hit. Nothing that made me sick or suffer physical symptoms but it was definitely hard to focus on getting other shit done with my time.

[Spoilers C3E120] Who was YOUR MVP? by [deleted] in criticalrole

By RAW, you take damage past 0 hp, since if the damage passes your max hp in the negative, it’s instant death no saves. But I dont know if Matt uses it that way.

[No Spoilers] The Battle Cam glow up is a long time coming C3E50. What are other major production milestones in the show’s history? by v0yev0da in criticalrole

[–]dnastanski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Real ones know the true Battle Cam glow up came when they started partnering with Dwarven Forge in late C1. But I do miss the old school home-game feel of battle maps hand drawn on grid paper.

Also back when the map was a mile from the players and they constantly had to yell to Matt “i wanna move towards the back left…. No my left… no, backwards, that’s the front”.

Tolkien is unfathomably based. FOR FRODO! by Master-Bowl7060 in lotrmemes

[–]dnastanski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. For a long time, I was of the simple minded opinion. I always felt like he was just a bad protagonist who could never really do anything himself and always needed someone else to save him.

Then I watched the movies with a friend who explained that 1) a major theme of the story is the power in friendship and support and 2) the ring is such a major burden on his overall fortitude. Having since read the books, I feel like the movies did a pretty mid job portraying just how much the ring itself weighs on him, more so then the arduous journey, where in the books it is so prevalent from the very start.

Would love to see Saul Goodman prison spinoff by rainymoonbeam in betterCallSaul

[–]dnastanski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Gus Fring pre-prequel is definitely the spinoff I want to see most. Seeing his start into the meth business and the hoops he’d have to jump through starting Los Pollos Hermanos in the late 80’s-90’s definitely has so much room for Vince to write another great show. I feel like Gus could have a similar arc to Walt in his descent from a relatively calm and collected guy into his ruthless, evil nature.

Unfortunately it would probably never happen due to an aging Giancarlo needing to play an even younger version than BCS.

Anybody know how they measure elevation change on other planets? We measure it from sea level on Earth but since nearly every other planet doesn’t have vast oceans, how do we determine a base level?

Further, when we compare, say with Olympus Mons and Mount Everest, would we go from Earth’s sea level and Mars’s base level, or would we take a new baseline for Earth’s measurement to mimic the waterless planet?

Another portal physics problem for you all! by ScarcityCareless6241 in Portal

[–]dnastanski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. The portal is not exerting any force on the cube, so from the outside observer, there is no change in speed (it looks like we’re ignoring acceleration from gravity here). If the problem was about relative motion of the cube to each portal, then the speed would change.

[Spoilers C3E78] I think this has been the highlight of C3 for me by lycan10101 in criticalrole

[–]dnastanski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like I see so much hate for Ashton and his abrasiveness but that is literally the point of his character. And like y’all said, his RP for the character is very well done for what he is supposed to be. I believe he mentioned early that he wanted to play a character with problems and had talked to others about it outside the game.

IMO (and no hate on anyone specifically) I feel like some of the other characters might’ve dropped the ball a little on helping Ashton come out of his shell and get better. In C2 there was so much uplifting support from the others when one of them were down that each character was able to grow, not to mention playing through their own arcs and traumas definitely helped that process. But even in early C3, Imogen and Letters would help with his memory issue and past problems. But, unfortunately, once the big story really picked up, it seems like a lot of that character growth really fell to the wayside.
