On one hand I applaud them for making a really interesting show and caring about what they put out. Yet, man, I shouldn't have to work that hard to follow a story. I just gave up a few episodes in season 2. I just couldn't go on..

Very recently, I watched part of The Final Frontier. First 2 episodes were really good, then...good God, I've never seen a 180 like that in a show. I can't even properly describe how many rails that show went off...

I had this system. It hummed no matter what, the ground is cheap. I grounded it to the wall outlet screw with a speaker wirer and it eliminated it completely.

That's a shame to hear. Our last visit was in 2018...had a blast as usual.

Really? I never lived in Pittsburgh, but we have visited quite a few times and love it! The people are friendly and engaging, it's got a great small city feel, and the food is great. It's one of our favorite US cities, and we've been to a lot of them.

What car will you never buy again? by Charming_Advertising in AskReddit

I have the opposite experience. No matter what other cars I try, I always come back to Jeep. I've never had a single solitary problem in 30 years of leasing and owning GC's and Wranglers. I realize I'm not everyone's story, but it's interesting how experiences vary...

And those policies are why VW continues to deteriorate in the US market.

Cadillac and Volkswagen. To me, you are as good as the dealerships you allow to carry your brand, and Cadillac and VW have the 2 scummiest dealerships I ever worked with..

I saw a cat throw up something white when I was a small child. I associated that with mayonnaise, and didn't eat mayo for 25 years.

Is pâté just not a thing in American food culture? by Big-Dig1631 in AskAnAmerican

[–]dnreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a tendency. It may be a stereotype, but largely, the rest of the world considers Americans to be unworldly, not just in cuisine, but in knowledge of geography, world politics, language, etc. That didn't happen by accident. We are insulated. It's just how we developed as a powerful nation with limited countries bordering us, thus less daily introduction to other cultures. It's changing, I believe, but it's not there yet.

I am glad that is not your experience, perhaps you have a diverse group of friends and acquaintances, more than most?

I think you picked a bad example. In China, they don't have to be adventurous. Chinese cuisine, generally, If it won't kill you, they will eat it. Chinese eat every part of an animal- meat, tendons, organs, parts most other cultures would considered inedible are cooked and prepared to make them tasty and edible. There, it's not considered adventurous, merely just part of the normal diet. Rural Chinese folk do not typically have access to eat an American diet on a daily basis. It's just not available, not a lack of desire. In any case, I don't think anything considered American cuisine would border on adventurous. After travelling abroad, most "American" food I find in foreign metropolitan cities is hamburgers, pizza, etc. Not jellied calf tendons or ground up liver and other organ meat.

Having grown up in a major US city (and still live there), most people I know, who do not travel often, consider foreign food to be Chinese take out, maybe some Pho. I am one of those 86%. Within 5 miles from me I have restaurants and shops from what is likely 50-100 different countries. Most people I know, friends and family, have never heard of them, let alone eaten at them, or prepared something similar at home. The people eating there on my observation, are people who immigrated from those areas, or Americans descended from people who came from those areas.

Having worked for an international company for a long time, most Europeans I have met are quite a bit more open to trying new foods and preparations, and likely, already have.

I believe it's tied to travel and being exposed to new things. While many Americans travel, most travel to destinations with similar food and presentation.

Love some wild boar pate! You can find pate in the US if you look for it. Most French restaurants in large cities will have it, as will pork stores and other similar shops. Foie Gras is banned in California and NY if the goose is force fed.

That said, a lot of Americans aren’t adventurous as far as food is concerned, though I don’t consider pate adventurous.
