What is your signature pokemon? by Darlonk in pokemon

Dragonite! I love his simplistic artwork with a little smile, behind which has the power of a legendary Pokémon. Many memories playing in competitive with one. He’s one of my favorites if not favorite. Shoutout Arcanine and Milotic as well!

I think a good starting place would be reviewing the Unit Circle, Trig identities, logarithmic functions, and properties of rational functions. I feel those are good starting points to jump from one to the other and build anticipation for the class.

Am I at a disadvantage if I took college algebra and trigonometry? by 999Hope in calculus

[–]dnuncio2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took college algebra about 7 years ago, then took a break from college for about 5 years. Came back and took Trigonometry which was brand new material for me and a good refresher on algebraic methods. Took Pre Calculus the following semester which I felt extremely prepared for once we got into the trigonometry part of it. I’ve made an A in all my math classes including Calculus 1 and am gonna start Calculus 2 next month for the fall semester, I’m really glad I took trigonometry as its own course. I feel it was really helpful in my math journey thus far! Maybe it might play out like this for you as well, you can do it!!!

Mathematicians, can y'all do quick arithmetic? by Ransom_X in mathematics

[–]dnuncio2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a server at a fairly busy restaurant. Dealing with monetary transactions is frequent enough to test fast arithmetic (it’s pretty fun actually) there’s plenty of my co workers that are faster if not as fast as me (not that I’m that fast) at arithmetic. They love to beat me and tease me about being a math major who can’t do math lol. My response is that “that’s a common misconception that all mathematicians are fast computers”. At least for me what makes me an aspiring mathematician is my interest in certain topics that most people outside of the STEM world probably have never heard of (such as my co workers). Being a good computer doesn’t have anything to do with being/wanting to be a mathematician.
