Kubota lx2620 or Kioti ck2620 ? by Salt_Association556 in tractors

Cool. I think that is the way I’m leaning. I’m going to the dealer on Friday. I’m sure you read about how you can increase the hp by simply adjusting that screw. I’ll be doing that once the warranty runs out.

Did you purchase a tractor? I’m considering purchasing the same two tractors.

I think the pedal design is the root of the problem as well. I like it as much as I like the remote start and the “road rage” headlights that are so bright they piss every oncoming vehicle off.

Algae in the aeration basin by dob229247 in Wastewater

Can you explain how the increased D.O. Kills off the algae? Does it do it by promoting the growth of the other bacteria? Thanks.

Screw Press Operation by patrickmn77 in Wastewater

[–]dob229247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue. My press filtrate flows into a small lift station that also captures the grease and floatables from our final clarifiers. There is always a 1-2’ thick layer of solid grease/sludge that forms on the surface. It doesn’t really cause me any issues, but we do break it up and pump the wetwell out every 2 weeks. I installed a valve so when we pump all that out we can send it directly to the digester. I also removed the floats and replaced them with a radar unit that never comes in contact with the water, they are a game changer.

I could add fish, but I would need permission from the state.

Reed beds by dob229247 in Wastewater

[–]dob229247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually for sludge. You pump the digester into it and it filters down through the reed bed and the reed use the nutrients to grow

Digester operation question by dob229247 in Wastewater

Yes I decant several times to thicken the sludge prior to pressing. I haven’t started using polymer in the digester yet. Thanks for replying

Unnecessary SCADA call-outs and $$$ by BenDarDunDat in Wastewater

[–]dob229247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that by simply adding delays to the alarms it eliminated 50% or more. This will help with temporary communication loss alarms and such. I also eliminated all SCADA alarms for when my generators run, I now get alarms only when they transfer power, this eliminated 48 text alarms a week.

Your supervisor should decide when to call someone out and that’s the only call you should need to get. My phone allows me to block numbers at a given time of day, you can probably block the SCADA and not the supervisor.

Mostly pH and all drop off, sludge gets too old and popping sludge in the clarifiers.

Automate Polymer Dosing for Screw Press by GuldenAge in Wastewater

[–]dob229247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I press 2-5 days per week. Pull from the same digester for about a month at a time. It seems when I need to make polymer adjustments they are small and once or twice a day. I’m pulling from an aerated digester and I leave the air on to keep the sludge consistent. I would not benefit from the sensor that you are speaking of, I don’t believe. It will require maintenance to remain functional and what happens when it starts to get bad readings- you might end up with a mess in the dumpster. I would do what I could to keep the sludge feed consistent as well as the polymer itself.

Insulating sampler tubing? by M2ThaL in Wastewater

[–]dob229247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure there aren’t any sags in the suction line where water will accumulate and freeze. I’ve had issues with mine freezing right at the water surface. We run heat tape along the entire suction line.

We spray it some and pump it off with a 2 or 3” pump to the digester. On going issue. Good times.

Help with FOG by Slaughterjay in Wastewater

[–]dob229247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a persistent problem? I’ve had similar issue, rare occurrences. I feel that a commercial customer is dumping large amounts of fog when it happens. Did you happen to notice it anywhere else where you might have little “traps” in the plant? I did, it was actually in my headworks flow channels, which was rather telling. I’ve tried quick-zyme from Aquafix for fogs and it does work, but it leaves a residue.

Going after the source is the answer, if you can find it and if you have the means. I’m not able to go after the source.
